Moog has ported its Moogerfooger pedal plugins to iOS, featuring all eight MF processors as individual AUv3 FX apps.

Almost a year ago, exactly in October 2022, Moog released the Moogerfooger pedals as FX plugins. A premiere because these were the first commercial plugins for macOS and Windows from Moog Music.

Since Moog has previously only released software in the iOS area, it was logical that many people asked if the FX plugins would also come out as iOS apps. So the Moogfooger is for on-the-go. It took almost a year to make this port; today, however, they are here.

They have not yet been officially published, but they can already be seen on the Apple App Store. Moog has ported all eight Moogerfooger FX plugins to iOS. It’s 1-to-1 ports with the same features and AUv3 support. But only for iOS AUv3, not macOS. Clear; otherwise, they would then compete with their own macOS plugins.

Part of this release are 8 individual apps. They will also be available as a bundle soon.

The MF Pedals

It includes the MF-101S Lowpass Filter giving you the legendary Moog Ladder filter topped with an envelope follower for dynamic control as an FX. The MF-102S ring modulator is also now on iOS and consists of a wide-range carrier oscillator paired with an LFO. It fits well for soft tremolo timbres up to wild ring modulator tones.

Then, the MF-103S is a 12-stage phaser that takes inspiration from the iconic 1970s rack-mounted Moog phaser with an onboard LFO. The MF-104S analog delay should not be missing in these iOS ports. It’s a rich-sounding analog-style delay paired with a modulation circuit.

Another Moog Moogerfooger FX for iOS is the MF-105S MuRF. It’s a unique effect combining a resonant filter bank with a pattern generator and skewing envelope. It’s a fascinating effect for creating evolving animation on an incoming sound.

Also, a very creative FX is the MF-107S FreqBox powered by a box of gnarly synced VCO sounds with envelope and FM modulation. A pretty unusual effect processor that can twist any signal in new directions. The MF-108S Cluster Flux is a flexible processor that can morph between chorus, flanger, and vibrato effects.

The latest Moogfooger release is now on iOS as well, the MF-109S Saturator. It packs the MF’s input drive stage and an emulation of the Minimoog Model D’s noise generator circuit with filtering in a shaping FX. It’s a pedal that infuses warmth, distortion, and crunch into your sounds in seconds.

Virtual CV

And like on the macOS/Windows versions, the MF pedals for iOS host virtual CV inputs and outputs, allowing them to speak with all of the other Moogerfooger effects plugins.

First Impression

Since I use iOS FX in the studio or on stage like a hardware pedal, I am pleased about this release. I think Apple Logic Pro’s iPad release also pushed Moog to take this step.

Moog Moogerfooger iOS processors are now available as individual AUv3 plugins for $9,99/9,99€. A complete bundle for $39,99 is coming soon, says Moog.

  1. I have all the real ones. Software has a little of the mojo of the originals, good software programming does the rest. Good plugins, in fi né. A bit expensive without promotion, of course.

  2. I have none of the real ones, and I really couldn’t care less how they compare to the software as long as it sounds good. Lol.
