Nothing Ear 2 are new wireless ANC earbuds designed in collaboration with Teenage Engineering, the makers of the OP-1 Synthesizer.

Okay, a little synth break for an entirely different topic on this page, earbuds. Audio accessories aren’t actually part of my coverage area, but I’ll make a brief exception for this news.

Nothing, a company that’s pretty much hyped in the tech scene these days, introduced the Ears 2—new wireless earbuds with active noise cancellation (ANC). The reason I include this news in my coverage is the designer of these earbuds. Nothing worked with Teenage Engineering, who designed the Ear 2.

Yes, Teenage Engineering has done it again. Another product outside the music production bubble. And one thing in advance, they don’t cost 2000€.

The Ear 2 earbuds have neither a groove box nor a Synthesizer built in. They are classic wireless earbuds with active noise cancellation

According to the Nothing press releases, they designed a custom driver for the 2nd generation model. They come with an 11.6 mm driver with improved sound quality with more low-end and clarity. They promise up to 40 dB of ANC.

Speaking about active noise cancellation. It features a more sophisticated ANC system that delivers better results. The Ear 2 also comes with multipoint Bluetooth support allowing you to use multiple devices simultaneously.

Then, the developers also improved the sound quality. It now supports up to 24-bit 192 kHz audio and a transfer rate of 1MB/sec. They say that the latency is slow, allowing you to use it for streaming.

An important point with every earbud set is the battery life. Nothing has increased the battery life to 36 hours of total playback time. That’s nice. There is also a fancy-looking Nothing X app, which gives you an overview of your battery level, ANC, and quick access to the EQ settings.

Further, you can find in the app an option to customize the ANC. You can use transparency mode or four different noise-canceling modes, including high, mid, low, and adaptive.

At first glance very stylish earbuds. Very futuristic design. They definitely go well with Teenage Engineering clothes, bags, and synthesizers lineup.

The Nothing Ear 2 will be available soon for $149 USD. You can simply signup on the Nothing website, and you’ll be notified as soon as they’re available.
