Yoshinosuke Horiuchi just published an advanced version of its experimental SuperCollider-based SC-808 drum machine with more than 100 filters, 16 LFOs & more.
On the last 808 day, I report on the SC-808, a free SuperColider-based 808 emulation by the Japanese developer Yoshinosuke Horiuchi. At that time there was already a teaser about a larger version of this standalone software. Now the SC-808 Advanced is here and it offers much more than the free version.
Like the SC-808, it’s an emulation of the iconic Roland TR-808 drum machine made with the SuperColider modular environment. The SC-808 Advanced extends the classic parameters with additional knobs for more precise sound design, new filters, LFOs, envelopes, and more.
SC-808 Advanced features three types of filters including Moog Lader, TB-303, and a high-pass filter. Plus, the user can add over 100 filters from the SuperColider software. The filters and modulation sources are implemented for each instrument and the user can switch to a different type for each instrument. This is a nice addition.
SuperCollider is compatible with OSC ( OpenSound Control ), so Mouse Pointer ( Cursor ), Nintendo Wii Remote, and Xbox Kinect can control LFO Rate, Cutoff, and Resonance as a Modulation.
Features
- Additional Knobs for more precise sound design
- Filters – TB-303, Moog Ladder, and HPF
- Add and changeable over 100 filters of SuperCollider
- 16 LFOs
- Separate out
- Support the Modification
For those who can get used to software instruments, this is a nice drum machine that can create authentic 808 drum sounds and those beyond that.
SC-808 Advanced by Yoshinosuke Horiuchi is available now for $29 and is compatible with macOS, Windows, and Linux. The SC-808 drum machine is available as a free download.
