UVI is known for plugins (Falcon…) but also for sample libraries. Especially interesting for me are Synthesizer libraries in which they revive old instruments. Today, the company released USQ-1, a new virtual instrument that features sounds from the vintage digital-analog Ensoniq ESQ-1 Synthesizer workstation.
It’s includes 268 waves that are built inside a new designed dual-layer interface that is powered by the UVI engine. Users can design new sounds with engines but have also access to 400 ready-to-use patches.
What UVI Have To Say About The New USQ-1
UVI releases USQ-1, a new collection featuring sounds from the the Ensoniq ESQ-1, including 400 new patches, a dual-layer architecture with 268 waves, built-in modulation, effects and more. The 8-voice design with 3 digital oscillators and a Curtis 4-pole analog filter allows for the creation of a wide range of sounds from quintessential ‘80s “vintage digital” vibes to modern and genre-inspired. USQ-1 represents one of UVI’s deepest vintage instruments yet. A library of over 22,000 samples marvelously exemplifies the hardware’s hybrid digital/analog character and delivers a tremendous new instrument for today’s composers, producers and musicians.
At USQ-1’s core is a 2-oscillator engine loaded with 268 user-selectable waves created on the original hardware. Each oscillator has a configurable 4-stage amp envelope, multimode filter with envelope, detune, pitch envelope, mono/poly switch, modwheel assignments, and stereo section with a customizable 16-step arpeggiator. USQ-1 also includes per-oscillator modulation via a dedicated LFO and step modulator and a capable effects section, allowing users to easily add movement to their sounds with high-quality drive, EQ, chorus, phase, delay and reverb. Per-oscillator modwheel assignments allow for convenient and expressive control over filter and tremolo depth and vibrato rate.
Four-hundred professionally-designed patches are included in USQ-1, providing a wealth of vintage and modern-influenced arpeggios, bells, brass, bass, chords, keys, leads, pads, plucks strings and sweeps with a distinct and edgy vintage sound. Patches can be quickly browsed, edited and layered together to create a near-limitless variety of sound design potential. All presets in USQ-1 can be deeply edited through a straightforward and intuitive interface. Everything from subtle mix-based adjustments to creating completely new patches can be done quickly and easily and saved for future use.
USQ-1 offers native 64-bit standalone operation by way of Falcon or the free UVI Workstation, providing comprehensive support for all modern DAWs and simultaneous authorization on up to 3 computers or iLok keys.
USQ-1 by UVI is now available at an introductory price of $49 USD/49€ through April 9th, 2018 (regularly $79/79€) from the UVI online shop.
