That was fast now. The first photo of the upcoming Dave Smith Instruments Sequential Prophet X is leaked. What we can already see: it has two displays and an inscription with 8Dio. 8Dio is a well-known sample library manufacturer that has published high-quality sound content for Kontakt 5 in recent years. Thus, the rumors thicken that the Prophet X sets not only on pure polyphonic synthesis but also on samples.

You can also see that the interface has two touch wheels in addition to the pitch and modwheel. So with this new picture, it’s pretty sure that the new Dave Smith Instruments Prophet X will be a hybrid Synthesizer something like a synth workstation. Also known from the trailer is that it has 16 voice polyphony and 2 banks of effects.

Maybe DSI would like to compete with the well-known workstations KORG Kronos, Yamaha Montage etc. and rely on analog synthesis with samples. If you look at the current portfolio of the company it would make sense.

Full informations about the new Dave Smith Instruments Synthesizer will coming for Superbooth next week. It will be interesting to see the full specs.

  1. Definately not a workstation. It looks like it has two samples and two analog oscillators per voice.
Other then that it looks alot like Rev2 in a Prophet-12 chassis.

The Drive knob in the filter section is interesting. I wonder if it is a new filter design.

LOL, nooo f*cking way. No multitimbral sequencer onboard, not enough polyphony. What are you talking about, Tom?

    • Who said: no multi-timbral sequencer etc? The official informations are not out. It’s just a personal impression what it could be!
