Bolle Krog SM-20 is a free patchable Synthesizer ensemble for Reaktor 6 (full version) that emulates the Korg MS-20 analog Synthesizer.
Reaktor 6, the LEGO of synthesis. For many, it is a Synthesizer plugin with tons of free extensions. Dive into it; you can design custom synthesizers, multi-effects, MIDI processors, and more from scratch.
It’s worth taking a regular look at the official Reaktor User Library. This time, too. Bolle, a well-known Reaktor developer mainly for its GUI designs, has taken over the MS-20 emulation project MS-2x by Solar X and released it as an all-new Krog SM-20 ensemble.
Bolle Krog SM-20
Krog SM-20 is an emulation of the Korg MS-20 Synthesizer. Like the original hardware, it comes with two multi-wave oscillators, highpass and lowpass filters with independent resonance controls, FM, LFO, and two envelopes (D-AR, H-ADSR).
On the right side there is also the typical MS-20 patch matrix and external signal processor with the same original connections. You can create here connections for complex sounds using the virtual patch cables. A button to switch on the velocity sensitivity is also onboard.
Advanced functions can be unlocked via the B interface. Here, you can find a tempo sync option, alternative zero-delay filter options with saturation, chorus, ring mod, and a drift slider also known as vintage knob.
Not to forget: the Bolle is a regular ensemble and can easily be integrated or paired with other instruments, effects in the Reaktor 6 engine.

First Impression
The Krog SM-20 is a great sounding semi-modular Synthesizer for Reaktor 6. It is once again one of the platform’s hidden gems. I can’t say exactly how close the emulation is to the orignal as I don’t have an MS-20 hardware.
For me it goes in the same direction, especially with the singing crunchy filters at higher resonance.
Bolle Krog SM-20 is available for free download and runs as an ensemble in the full version of Reaktor 6.
