DecadeBridge Sn is a new portable fun patchable Lo-Fi FM Synthesizer with seven selectable algorithms and a lowpass gate.
I was on Etsy again. Yes, that platform where many amateur cybercriminals want to sell you a full Spectrasonics Omnisphere license for 20€. These are the dark shadow sides of the digital platform. You can read an article about it here.
There are also positive ones, those of the many independent synth manufacturers who sell their synthesizers on Etsy in small series. One is DecadeBridge from the UK, which I have reported on several times. For example, about the Albers synth. He is now back with a little synth thing.
DecadeBridge Sn
Steven’s Synthesizer creations are often a bit more experimental or drone-like. This also fits the new SN, a Lo-Fi FM Synthesizer capable of various sounds.
Sn is a compact, patchable instrument with just a few parameters. The core consists of seven FM algorithms, selectable with a big retro-style blue button. You can also use a trigger/gate signal through these various algorithms. That sounds like a lot of fun.
Each algorithm offers three distinct pitch settings. With the carrier pitch, modulator pitch, and FM amount, you can carefully set any algorithm or experiment wildly on the fly.
You also get a CV input for each of the three parameters, so you can easily incorporate it with your modular setup.
The output of the algorithms is run then through a three-position passive lowpass filter. This also hides a low pass gate. By switching down the VCA switch and connecting a CV signal in the VCA input, the VCF turns into a low pass gate.
Sn is a drone-like affair. But with interesting patching you can get away from it a bit and create different plucky sounds. The video from Oscillator Sink shows this nicely.
First Impression
A beautiful little unusual FM Synthesizer. The box looks fun, the sound possibilities are rather limited but in a compact setup you can certainly make nice noise with it.
DecadeBridge Sn is now available for pre-order at 131,16€ instead of 163,95€ on the developer’s Etsy shop. Shipping will start in 8-10 weeks, depending on the orders.
