Blinksonic Eclo.re Player is a new series of Reaktor 6 ensembles with embedded music albums that let you interact (loop, remix…) with them.
Making a living from your own music is anything but easy these days, especially with the power of streaming platforms that dominate the market. These platforms get richer every day with every piece of music uploaded to their platform.
The actual creatives who have spent months/years working on their releases get almost nothing. It’s feeding the devil to hope that a track will become a hit one day. Thank God Bandcamp still exists. But new ways are needed to get music to listeners.
The French developer Blinksonic, designer of many fantastic Reaktor instruments and the Korg microKORG 2 Synthesizer UI has found a new interactive way to transport music.
Blinksonic Eclo.re Player
Blinksonic’s new idea is not necessarily compatible with the mass audience, but rather for the music creator community. The new Eclo.re Player series (vol.1) are interactive albums & EPs embedded inside eye-catching Reaktor 6 (full version) ensembles.
Sylvain Stoppani, founder of Blinksonic, describes it as a crossover between new media art and a virtual DJ tool. Moreover, it’s an animated album artwork.
Each of these Blinksonic Eclo.re Player ensembles are designed like a fully featured virtual instrument. Instead of being a synthesizer, it has already produced music inside it, available in multiple tracks. On top, these are in sync with the visuals and the animated commands of the Reaktor ensemble.
Eclo.re Player is more than just a playback device. You can fully interact with the embedded music, something that is not possible with streaming, also from the legal side.
Each ensemble features a looper/sampler combo that allows you to remix an album or EP based on four high-quality stems in real-time. You can mutate recordings to your taste, change the pitch, create loops, and generate atmospheres based on the original content.
They also have built-in effects and modulations, giving you more ways to manipulate the original music in something new.
A highlight of the Blinksonic Eclo.re Player is the ability to incorporate your own multitrack songs and remix them inside the engine.
First Impression
The Blinksonic Reaktor releases are always eye-catching, and the Eclo.re Player ensembles are also this. The idea is exciting because you can move away from simply listening and start engaging with it again. You interact with it and make something new out of it. So the creative process doesn’t end with the album release but continues. I like that.
Blinksonic Eclo.re Player series is available now for 35€ and requires the full version of Reaktor 6 or in 6 Player with a 30 minute limitation. Why no full Reaktor 6 Player? Check this article; it also applies to Reaktor releases.
