SSB has released Supernova FX, a new morphing FX processor for Reaktor 6 made for creating evolving soundscapes.
I’ve written a lot about Max For Live over the last few days. A very exciting, open environment with tons of crazy stuff. Reaktor 6 from Native Instruments is just as nerdy and varied. Also, this is driven by community input in the form of new synths, effects, and more. Often available as a free download from the official user library.
This week, Synthesizer Studio Berlin shows nicely with its new release what is possible with the dusty but still powerful Reaktor core.
SSB Supernova FX
Supernova FX is a new multi-effects ensemble for Reaktor 6.5 (full ensemble). According to SSB, it’s a morphing FX processor that turns your sounds into evolving soundscapes.
The core uses a mixture of different effects. However, the heart is driven by a complex reverb diffusion network with a modulated feedback drive and notch filter. Then, it also includes a pitch shifter, a grain cloud processor, and two flexible bit crushers.
Synthesizer Studio Berlin rounded off the engine with six customizable LFOs with drawable waves that provide tons of modulation. The individual effects (grain cloud, pitch shifter, etc.) can be used separately or as a whole. In combination, it allows you to create a wide range of effects.
Also onboard is a randomizer and a morphing function, allowing you to tweak and morph endlessly the parameters of the entire ensemble giving always new results. Using the morph knob in the middle of the Reaktor ensemble lets you make huge transitions, promises SBB on its press release.
Supernova FX ships with two ensemble versions. One that gives you the complete experience, and a second with less randomization and morphing. It also includes 145 presets that give you an overview of the possible sounds. Sound demos are available on the website.
First Impression
An excellent effects processor with which you can quickly dive into deep atmospheric sounds.
SSB Supernova FX is available now for an introductory price of 19,99€ instead of 29,99€. It requires the full version of Reaktor 6.5 (Player not supported).
