Let’s stick with Synthesizer events. For everyone who lives in Switzerland or the surrounding area, there will be an excellent event tomorrow, Saturday.
Tomorrow, there will be a new edition of the Swiss Synthesizer Meeting. This time, it takes place in the Gran Rex Auditorium in beautiful Locarno. It’s in the Italian-speaking part of Switzerland where also the film festival is every year.

The Swiss Synthesizer Meeting is the unmissable live event dedicated to electronic music: 8 hours of jam sessions produced exclusively with vintage and modern electronic instruments. The project was born in Zurich in 2006 on the initiative of a group of musicians passionate about synthesizers. Since then, the meeting has become a regular appointment, which has been held annually in different cities in German Switzerland.
The 2023 edition, the first in Ticino, will take place on Saturday 23rd of September, from 14:00 to 22:00 in the Gran Rex auditorium in Locarno. The historic cinema, completely renovated in 2017, is equipped with a state-of-the-art audio and video system, making it the perfect location for an event of this magnitude.
About a dozen musicians on stage will lead the audience on a journey through time, spanning different musical genres – from ‘80s Electro to more pop and experimental forms, through Ambient, Funk and much more. What makes the Swiss Synthesizer Meeting unique of its kind is the possibility to get a closer look at the instruments used during the sessions, which are rarely seen, which are hardly out of studies and private collections.
During the breaks, in fact, visitors can interact with musicians, giving life to a more educational and informative moment.
The event is free and open to all: not only to enthusiasts, but also to all curious people who approach the aesthetics of electronic music for the first time and composition techniques and improvisation.
Swiss Synthesizer Meeting 2023 is organized by Flavio Boniforti (Boswil, IT Engineer and electronic musician) and Roberto Raineri-Seith (Ascona, visual & audio artist / raineri-seith.com ) in collaboration with E-Boite Visual Arts, responsible for the Image & Sound part of the Locarno Film Festival, and supported by all the public and private partners interested in promoting it.
Theo Bloderer of Greatsynthesizers will also be there and will exhibit some of his treasures and be available for questions.
Swiss Synthesizer Meeting 2023 will take place tomorrow September 23rd from 14 to 22 in the Gran Rex Auditorium, Locarno (Ticino, Switzerland). The entrance is free (voluntary donation in the foyer possible).
