sonicLab VOLTBotM is a new MIDI modulator plugin powered by a stochastic and distributed engine generating evolving modulation signals for your DAW
Modulators, regardless of hardware or software, are helpful audio tools with which you can set sounds in motion. Some DAWs like Ableton Live or Bitwig Studio have an armada of modulation tools built in the engine, others are a little weaker. sonicLab, a plugin manufacturer known for its very experimental approach, has now released a MIDI modulator plugin that makes every DAW wilder.
Back in 2019, the developer introduced VOLBot a unique stochastic audio modulator. Now he has published VOLBotM, the MIDI modulator equivalent that follows the same concept.
sonicLAB VOLBotM
VOLBotM is a MIDI modulator plugin that consists of a super low frequency oscillator (LFO) with advanced functionalities. It is capable to generate up to 4 iterated versions of itself at once as modulator signals. In addition to standard waveforms, they offer a multitude of discrete and continuous stochastic distributions making super versatile modulation signals possible.
Each LFO iteration uses 4 independent GEN’s (stochastic signal generators) which can address numerous parameters of the LFO. Plus waveform offset handling and limiters with transparency control, all with stochastic modulation. These can be routed to MIDI CC, aftertouch, and pitch bend destinations with further shaping options including offset leveling and attenuation.
Then, VOLBotM takes advantage of sonicLAB’s distributed audio plugin architecture. According to the developer, this enables to control an entire fleet of DAW track instruments together with your parameter controls on the VOLBotM interface while communicating with the VOLBotM clients on other tracks at the same time.
A very exciting creative plugin from sonicLAB that gives every DAW an experimental touch.
sonicLAB VOLTBotM is available now for an introductory price of 49€ (reg. 59€/$66 USD) until 16 January 2022. Also existing sonicLAB VOLBot users (and BOT bundle owners) can benefit of additional 10 Euros discount. Please send a mail at support@sonic-lab.com. It runs as a 64-bit only VST2 and AU plugin for macOS and Windows.
The registration requires an iLok account. And an iOS version is coming in 2022.
