Full Bucket Fury-800 v2.5 is out now: new major update refines the free Korg Poly-800 Synthesizer (1983) emulation for macOS and Windows.
Good news for Full Bucket Music plugin fans. Björn, the developer, has just released Fury-800 v.2.5.0, an update for its Korg Poly-800 emulation. Following a significant update in 2020, the free plugin is now getting another boost.
The new update 2.5.0 introduces a reworked Poly-800 mode, which more closely matches the original hardware characteristics. According to FBM, they refined the filter behaviour with updated resonance, envelope intensity, and trigger mode.
They also modified the modulation generator to match the Poly-800’s original characteristics. This includes:
- waveform: it now produces a triangle wave (only in POLY-800 MODE)
- oscillator: values of parameter 81 (frequency) and parameter 82 (delay) are matched to those of the original hardware
- The “slope” of the delayed modulation contour was adjusted, too.
- adjusted mod range (about two notes)
Alongside this, Full Bucket Music added a new MIDI CC2 (breath controller) parameter to the Fury-800. It’s now possible to select whether the VCF modulation is controlled by MIDI CC 1 (mod wheel) or CC 2 (breath controller.
Additionally, the BRIGHT function has been recalibrated to match the Poly/EX-800 characteristics.

With the Fury-800, Full Bucket Music offers a great, 100% free emulation of the Korg Poly-800. Some users were not satisfied with its authenticity and provided feedback to the developer. Björn Arlt has now released Fury-800 v2 with major improvements.
Version 2.0 adds two new modes. In the new BUCKET MODE (green LED), the synth will sound like the original version 1. If you load a program saved with v1, it will automatically set to BUCKET MODE.
The second mode (red LED) is called POLY-800 MODE, and in this mode, the Fury-800 will sound more like the Poly-800 hardware. This includes refined ranges and envelopes that correspond to the original. He also adjusted the filter’s ranges.
If you import a hardware program bank via SysEx, those programs will automatically be set to POLY-800 MODE.
It’s always phenomenal to see the effort that Full Bucket Music puts into its free plugins. Bravo for the update!

Fury-800 is a 100% free emulation of the sound and workflow of the vintage KORG Poly-800 polyphonic Synthesizer from 1983.
The Poly-800 was Korg’s answer to the Roland Juno-106: a programmable, polyphonic analog synthesizer, and affordable.
The original features an oscillator (DCO) per voice, an analog 24dB/oct filter, three digital envelopes, a built-in sequencer, and more.
Fury-800 emulates everything of the original, plus adds some cool extras. Unlike the original, the emulation comes with two band-limited DCOs with individual envelope generators. The original had only one oscillator, but with a double mode.

Wow! This was my very first synth back in the late 80’s. I learned about synthesis on this little four octave baby. This emulation sounds pretty close to what I remember. It’s very CPU efficient too! Thank you very much for this, very nostalgic !
Howdy again, Fury 800 version 1.1 has just been released which fixes a couple of issues. I’ve tried it in Logic X -and Bitwig. Works great now. BTW, I left the a small donation at full bucket website. Please consider same as this free plugin is well worth the donation.
