After Moog Music released a big update for the Model 15 Synthesizer app in the afternoon, there are now big changes in GarageBand for iOS. No, a complete Alchemy Mobile version is still not available but this new version 2.3 facilitate a lot beat programming. With the new version, GarageBand introduced beat programming like on classic drum machines and comes with several excellent new drum kits.

In the new version 2.3, the AUv3 format is also enhanced in GarageBand and enables a larger Audio Unit Extensions view for compatible third-party instruments and effects.

On top, this new version features three new drummers who play percussion in the styles of Pop, Songwriter and Latin. To offer more content for different music styles, it comes also with new traditional instruments from China and Japan. These instruments can be play and record like the other included instruments. These are available in the new sound library browser.

In my opinion is GarageBand with the latest 2.3 version now even better. Especially the new beat programming like on classic drum machines and the improved AUv3 format makes this easy-to-use and free DAW more powerful than before.
