DivKid Path, in collaboration with Vostok Instruments, is a new four-channel interpolating router module that flips the Trace module concept.

In mid-August 2024, YouTuber and module developer DivKid released Trace in collaboration with Vostok Instruments. Trace is a nifty, compact module that modernizes Jurgen Habile’s interpolating scanner circuit.

It allows you to morph between four inputs manually or with control voltage. It fades from one to the next as the CV rises. Enough news from the past: it’s time for Ben Wilson’s next module, and he’s made it easy. With Paths, DivKid unveiled a new module that turns Trace’s concept on its head.

Path is again a four-channel 4HP interpolating router developed in collaboration with Vostok Instruments from Spain. It looks like Trace at first glance, but it is a different module. DivKid Path flips Trace’s central concept.

Instead of four into one, the circuit morphs one signal into four possible DC-coupled outputs, fading from one to the next. You can use audio and CV signals thanks to the DC-coupled interpolating circuit and outputs.

The other features were taken from the Trace module. It also uses a custom soft fading slope designed to improve the response on middle positions and ensure smooth transitions.

Like the DivKid Trace module, the Path also features CV input. In Path, it’s for routing, allowing you to automate it. Additionally, it has onboard attenuation and inversion to give you more flexibility for modulation.

Further, you can find a fixed voltage normalization at the main input, turning Path into a versatile and unique modulation source. As small as the module is, it is a versatile module that unlocks new routing paths in your modular setup. For example, you can achieve advanced FX sends with it.

First Impression

I really dig the Trace module’s concept. It allows for a lot of morphing and fading functionality in the rack with little HP.

The new Path module also looks very intriguing, but I’m unsure where I would use it in my modular setup. But I am sure that there are enough modular heads out there who will find a place for it.

Divkid Path is available now for $139,99.
