NI & iZotope Holiday Free Gifts: download Trash 2 distortion plugin & Play Series Twenty Five for FREE for the holidays, plus a 25% OFF NI software coupon

Christmas is coming soon, the time when you spend a lot of time with your family. But also the time of giving. The software industry in music tech is also a little more generous during these days. So you can often grab free plugins, free samples … for a limited time. Always very welcome gestures for the community.

Almost traditional is the Native Instruments (NI) giveaway, which is always available around Christmas time. The 2021 edition is now live and this year NI took iZotope onboard to make the giveaway a bit bigger. But no wonder both companies recently announced a even more closer collaboraton.

This year both companies are giving away new music tools to their community again. More precisely, an effect plugin, a Kontakt Play series virtual instrument, and a voucher.

Let’s start with iZotope who offer the Trash 2 distortion plugin as a free download for a limited time. Trash 2 is audio processor with 60+ distortion algorithms with the option to fully customize the built-in multi-band waveshaper. But the plugin can do a lot more than just classically distort your signals.

It is powered by a super flexible engine that allows you to use it as a characterful saturation unit or as a unique space desginer tool. With the convolve module, it gives you to load in impulse responses, either your own or from over 100 factory files. A plugin not to be missed. It offers a lot and all this for free.

NI Play Series TWENTY FIVE

No free plugin from Native Instruments this year, but a free NI Play Series library for the Kontakt 6 Player. But this is not a brand-new for this event. On its 25th birthday event, NI released the TWENTY FIVE virtual instrument, a free Play Series that celebrates the history of the company.

The core consists of two layers each with a selection of different sources featuring sounds from the entire NI product catalog. Including timbres from Absynth, Massive X, Reaktor libraries,… so here you can experience the NI product history sonically. Then, each layer has classic subtractive synth parameters including transpose, tune, filter, two envelopes, two LFOs, and more. TWENTY-FIVE also hosts a powerful multi-fx section giving you access to all Kontakt effect processors.

All this rounded up with a creative sequencer with 8 sequencers with which you animate multiple parameters. The first two controls the pitch & velocity while the other 6 can animate the macros The Play Series 25 is a great sounding virtual instrument full of interesting Synthesizer sounds. I can highly recommend it and yes, I did a longer video about the library.

On top, Native Instruments is also offering an 25% OFF e-voucher. Customers can save 25% on any NI software product by using the code HOLIDAYGIFT2021 at the NI online shop checkout.

NI & iZotope Holiday Free Gifts and the 25% OFF discount is available until January 4, 2022.

  1. Too bad Trash 2 has become something close to abandonware (along with Iris 2). They’ve been discounting these things further and further. At one point, they might pay us to get them.
The software itself is quite neat. Clever, creative, useful.
It’s just that it didn’t get any love in quite a while. While it’s not as bad as these free 32-bit VST2 Windows plugins which clutter the field, Trash 2 isn’t what I’d call “modern software”. Pain to install, too (though Iris 2 is worse).

Sooo… Glad it’s now given away to those who still don’t have it. Let’s hope it’s a sign that they’ll release v3, the way they upgraded BreakTweaker, last year.
