Something completely different. UVI has introduced Quadra, a new sample-based virtual instrument that reinterprets classic strings sounds. This is done by not having the typical guitar phrases or violin sounds at the touch of a key. It allows you to combine these well-known sounds on four layers, creating hybrid string sounds. From guitars to synths, the library has a lot to offer.
Its flexible playability makes it so interesting to me. Either you play it like a piano or more like an electronic, performance instrument via the powerful arpeggiator/sequencer. String instruments sound here under a different coat. Very flexible, dynamic, and special.
UVI Quadra
Quadra is a modern creative 4-part instrument, and sequence designer that is based on a wide range of multi-sampled string instruments. The library ships with 150 multi-sampled sources, including guitars, occidental & Asian string instruments (harp, cello, violin, cymbalum…), pianos, or even recordings from analog, FM & physical modeling synths. The sounds are available in a powerful interface with which you can design sounds yourself.
It delivers 4 completely customizable instrument layers with mappable key zones, XY pads, and dynamics morphing. Then, you have multimode filters, envelopes as well as audio effects. Available is a frequency shifter, waveshaper, chorus, phaser, and more. One of the highlights of this new multi-layer instrument is the built-in advanced 64-step arpeggiator and phrase sequencer. It is capable of creating complex melodies thanks to its MIDI effects. It includes euclidean emphasis, MIDI delay, pitch drift, random, and randomization, scale quantization, and more.
Factory Sounds
Quadra comes loaded with an impressive collection of wildly diverse and inspired factory patches. Hundreds of unique creative visions are ready to be explored, crafted by a team of in-house veterans and industry stalwarts like Simon Stockhausen. The presets are fully editable so you can use them as a starting point for your own sounds.
From classical stringed arpeggios to harmonizing guitars, grooving bass, and synth lines to dark brooding cinematic soundbeds, anywhere in-between, and far beyond. The virtual instrument has a lot to offer. Everything except bread and butter string sounds.
