I like experimental plugins that others can score with other concepts. The plugins from Glitchmachines, the sound design company of Ivo Ivanov are one of my favorites here because they constantly offer unique software products.
The newest plugin release is called Tactic and is a powerful percussive phrase generator that uses 8 sample slots, 4 sequencers, and modulators to bring movements to your tracks.
Glitchmachines Tactic
Tactic features 8 sample slots with custom sample support. You can either load samples from the library or add your own. You can adjust each sample slot with different controls including start/endpoints, pitch, and volume. The sample slots are triggered by a sequencer with 16 steps. You can either program any sample, no sample, or ask the engine to choose one for you on every pass. Then, it has two versatile modulation sequencers onboard. With these, you can generate very complex parameter modulations. Plus, you have a generative sequencer that infuses deep parameter randomization. Thanks to probability functions for the notes, movement, generation, or modulation, you can push Tactic in very evolving pattern fields.
It ships with a specially curated factory bank with over 600 percussion samples and sound effects. If the sounds are not to your taste, you can also import easily your own samples
At first glance, an exciting new plugin from Glitchmachines. Everything is very clean and simple structured. Certainly, a plugin with which you can discover new fields of pattern-based sound design. Again a lovely release.
Glitchmachines Tactic is available now for $49 USD for Windows/macOS and runs as a VST3/AU plugin.
