I have one sentence to say: We are flying to Berlin! Next week, SuperBooth 2017 will be again and I will travel to Berlin to cover all the news from the Synthesizer and electronic music market. Stay tuned for daily new videos about all the news from Berlin.

After the first edition last year at the legendary Funkhaus in Berlin, the SuperBooth becomes the must see Europeen trade fair show for electronic musical instruments. This edition will be taking place from next week Thursday (April 20th) until Saturday (April 22nd) in the FEZ location in Berlin. What can we expect? Easy: more developers from a wider range of different electronic music instruments. This what the organisation has to say: 170 exhibitors from more than 20 different countries. That’s in my opinion an impressive amount of developers and we can expect for sure many new products there.

The main difference between the SuperBooth and a traditional trade show is the cultural aspect of this event. Every day, the promoter offers to the visitors a big amount of different workshops and very interesting discussions with best known developers and musicians. I really love the way how they make this mini events. Each talk or known as “Gesprächskonzert” includes two parts: one talking section and one where the developer or the specific artist will make a performance with electronic music gear. Unfortunately, I didn’t spend a lot time last year with these events because I had to much to do for shooting videos and talking with developer and friends. I pretty sure there will be no different situation for me because I create this entire coverage on my page and Youtube alone without any help.

If the promoters will create the same charm and atmosphere this year in the FEZ location, it will for sure a fantastic 3 days event with a lot of fun and work. For me personal, SuperBooth was last year an absolute great and lovely Synthesizer event with a lot of friends and new contacts. It had this amazing feeling to be on a place without having the mission to buy this and this device but more to talk with developers about their new products, play a bit with their instruments and have a nice moment.

I’m really looking forward for this three days event and I’m very happy to see again good developer friends and discover maybe some new friends from the synth market. Please excuse me already for the rare update of this page beginning Thursday next week. I will try to do my best to update it with some news from the floor.

SUPERBOOTH17 The first European Trade Fair for electronic musical instruments, will be taking place from April 20th to 22nd for the 2nd time at FEZ-Berlin.170 exhibitors from more than 20 different countries – 120 events, 25 concerts per day – guests coming from more than 40 countries.

SUPERBOOTH17 is also a cultural event with concerts, workshops, “Gesprächskonzerten” (performance/talks), providing insights into the world of electronic music and the panel discussion SOOPERtalk. SUPERBOOTH17 offers a lot more than a normal trade fair.

1. The Event program is set:

The trained trumpet player Colin Benders from the Netherlands shows that modular systems have arrived in mainstream composing. The renowned musician – also working with the Kyteman Orchestra – concludes the first evening in front of a standing audience, performing thru the quadrophonic PA in Konzertsaal 1 (K1).  The system will see it’s inauguration at 7pm by Max Loderbauer and a well known acquaintance by means of a four channel performance. Also on Friday and Saturday there’s a flock of nondescript notables coming and going in a continuous stream: Frank Bretschneider, Schneider TM, (also (F.) Schneider (Senior) has been invited), Alec Empire, T.Raumschmiere, Matt Didemus (Junior Boys), Jay Ahern, Skinnerbox, the Teichmann Brothers, Gudrun Gut, Ströme (formerly laBrassBanda), Mouse on Mars and others are either on the line up or will be our guests. This year we will create significantly more space for Women’s electronic music. After the SOOPERtalk, two thirds of the nightly program is female-cast. Daily at 1:30pm basic courses by and for Women only are taking place at the Eve – Lounge, with Jessica Kert of SchneidersLaden defining the principles of subtractive synthesis where every day we will have experienced female musicians as guests to explain Examples of usage on location.

2. SOOPERtalk:

Nobody here likes to be famous: During all three evenings from 8-9pm, some less or more well known, but always proficient guests will address issues of our importance as part of community. We are going to investigate the social position we take as a group of creatives. On the first evening we have a very interesting speech by a special someone.

The 2nd evening is devoted entirely to Creation and is hosted by Jens Uthoff of taz. What kinds of spaces do exist for societal and artistic visions? Together with the Teichmann Brothers we have managed to invite very interesting guests for this discussion.

3. Book your DIY Workshop tickets now:

Binding bookings for the DIY workshops are now available and limited to 16 participants each. The cost for participation in the DIY workshops depends on individual construction kit prices. All other workshops thru out the day (incl. 1pm) may be reserved with your standard visitor ticket as long as places are available. Similar to last year, a live stream running from 12am to 12pm will be provided for absent but interested parties, however, this time representing ALL relevant concerts and presentations. For the night hours there will be more program at C-Base, in the Maze Club (Thursday & Friday) and on the final night at Ohm in Tresor.
