Full Bucket Music Broken Mini is a free malfunctioning Minimoog Synthesizer emulation plugin for macOS and Windows.
The Moog Minimoog is one of the most emulated synthesizers. Even Moog itself has virtually recreated the Mini as a mobile app and macOS plugin.
With the amount of virtual Minimoogs available, do we need another one? I don’t think so. Full Bucket Music thought so, too. So, Björn of FBM released a malfunctioning “Broken” Mini as a free plugin.
Full Bucket Music Broken Mini
Broken Mini is a free Minimoog Synthesizer emulation plugin. However, it is not 100% accurate. It is not even explicitly stated that there is one. Björn of Full Buck Music says it simulates an unknown and obscure Synthesizer from the past (197–).
The plugin does not have a feature set. FBS says it is broken and has a resizable user interface, but what for, and MIDI learn but why? However, if you load the plugin, a Synthesizer plugin appears that represents a Minimoog with its original structure.
Full Bucket Music Broken Mini features three multi-wave oscillators, an oscillator mixer with noise and overload feature, a ladder filter, and two envelopes.
The GUI randomly lacks some graphics. For example, the C3 key or the sustain button of the ADS filter envelope is missing in my screenshot. Another crazy malfunction is in the noise generator. It’s “kaputt,” and instead, radio signals spread in the circuit.
Before you can explore and play the synth, you have to set the power switch to on. Another funny feature is the oversample button that does not go up but only down. You can put it to 0,25 and get a dirty “shitier” sound out of it. And yeah, there are no presets.
First Impression
It’s a funny idea to make a Minimoog emulation. Regarding sound, It is is not super authentic or a close emulation. However, I think the idea is something new and fresh to offer an inaccurate Minimoog emulation. Thanks, Björn, for this plugin.
Full Bucket Music Broken Mini is available now as a free download and runs as a VST, VST3, AU, AAX, and CLAP plugin for macOS (native Apple Silicon + Intel) and Windows.
