Three oscillator analog Synthesizers are currently very popular. Roland SE-02, Behringer D or the upcoming Dreadbox Medusa Synthesizer, all have three oscillators. A new synth company joined recently the party. Motas Electronics, a new synth manufacturer from UK has introduced the Motas-6, a new three oscillator analog monophonic Synthesizer. It features analogue voltage-controlled oscillators with hard-sync, phase-modulation and an addition sub-oscillator.
The engine is driven by a 6-pole voltage-controlled low pass filter with adjustable resonance and goes into self-oscillation with selectable 1,2,3,4,5, and 6-pole outputs. Beside this, it comes also with a 2-pole high-pass voltage-controlled filter and a second 4-pole low-pass voltage-controlled filter with resonance to self-oscillation.
4 cv/gate inputs and midi/usb control allows you to use the Motas-6 with other instruments like a modular synth. On the creative and playability side, the Motas-6 comes with a full-featured arpeggiator, pattern generator and sequencer. The pattern generator (limited to one bar) is here a cool feature because you can store inside each pattern a series of notes, parameter changes and controller events. Also handy is that it allows to store up to 100 presets in the memory. With an additional software, you can save and exchange your sounds..
Motas-6 features:
- Purely analogue sound generation
- 3 VCOs (mixable triangle, sawtooth, PWM/square waves, sub-oscillator, analogue phase modulation)
- Noise source (white/pink)
- External audio input
- 3 VCFs (2 LPF with resonance, 1 HPF)
- Flexible filter routing options
- Lots of very high-resolution digital modulation sources (LFOs, EGs, MIDI controller, CV/gate input)
- Analogue clipping distortion options
- Save/load 100s of patches to internal memory
- Oscilloscope and Spectrum-Analyser
- MIDI/USB control
- 4 CV/gate inputs
- Arpeggiator
- Pattern generator and sequencer
The Motas-6 monophonic Synthesizer is now available exclusively from the Red Dog Music Shop (London). If you don’t have the possibility to purchase it from this shop, you can alternatively contact the developer on the website. Unfortunately, there is no official price of the device. I will try to contact the developer to get a price information.
