Shakmat Lancer’s Lash is a new, powerful yet hands-on multi-engine snare drum Synthesizer module for Eurorack.
The Belgian company Shakmat Modular has been developing a complete drum Synthesizer system for some time. The first components of this system are already available with the Battering Ram kick drum and the Archer’s Rig hi-hat generator.
The next piece of the puzzle was unveiled at Superbooth 2025 with a powerful snare drum. Good news: Shakmat released the Lancer’s Lash today, bringing versatile, fully synthesized snares to your rack.
Shakmat Lancer’s Lash
Lancer’s Lash is a new dedicated skiff-friendly 8HP snare drum Synthesizer module for Eurorack. According to Shakmat, Lancer’s Lash is built to cover everything from tight classic hits to completely off-the-map percussion.
At its core is a multi-engine synthesis engine that offers various modes, including virtual analog, physical modeling, granular, and FM percussion. Each engine brings its own character, letting you dial anything from familiar drum machine snaps to strange metallic bursts and evolving hybrid snares.
You can tweak the engine with four main knobs: decay, timbre, color, and pitch. Depending on the selected engine, the parameters can affect the sound differently. Each model also comes with dedicated effects, including distortion and waveshaping.
To give your patterns a more organic, alive touch, Lancer’s Lash also includes an onboard randomization system that you can assign independently to every parameter with an independent modulation amount. It can produce both subtle and wilder variations.
The module also has a velocity sensitivity input, letting you add expressive dynamics.
Patch Storage
You tweak a sound for a long time, and then you have exactly the one you want. If you tweak it again, it’s usually gone. Not in the Shakmat Lancer’s Lash. It comes with a very handy internal 256-slot non-volatile memory where you can store your sounds.
So you can recall your favorite snare sounds anytime. And of course, it also communicates with CV and with Shakmant’s own Select Bus protocol. In the top right, it also has a microSD card slot for firmware updates and preset management.
On the connection side, it gives CV control over all the core parameters (velocity, decay, timbre, preset selection, color, and pitch), plus a trigger input and main output.
First Impression
The new Lancer’s Lash looks like a powerful yet still very hands-on snare drum module. The ability to choose from different all-synthesis engines makes it very versatile.
I hope that in the future it will be possible to load your own mini samples into the granular engine, making this part even more customizable.
Tbh, I’m not a fan of menu diving in Eurorack, but the demo shows it’s not that deep and pretty straightforward to navigate, so it doesn’t belong to the Disting menu-monster family.
Shakmat Lancer’s Lash is available now for $339,99/285€.
