Scott McAuley Sounds has released Elixir Vol 1, a new patch library for the Korg Prologue Synthesizer, plus three custom oscillator plugins.
Korg discontinued the Prologue a few years ago. Rumors of a new Prologue have been circulating for some time. Yes, it’s discontinued, but sound designers still make new sounds and Korg plugins available for the flagship Logue SDK synth.
British sound designer company Scott McAuley Sounds has released the new Elixir Vol 1 library with fresh sounds for the Prologue synth, and it ships with a great bonus.
Scott McAuley Sounds Elixir Vol 1
Elixir Vol 1 is a new patch library for the Korg Prologue, compatible with the 8 and 16 versions.
Scott McAuley says it ships with 146 new sounds covering keys, pads, leads, basses, strings, and more. Two dedicated video demos are out now that walk through the included sounds in detail.
The library includes a wide selection of sounds, ranging from soft to epically brutal. The library shows just how beautiful and unique the Korg Prologue sounds.
What you hear here isn’t just the analog 8- or 16-voice Prologue engine. A large portion, more precisely 101 sounds of the 146, uses the digital Logue SDK engine.
Scott McAuley developed three new custom oscillator plugins specifically for the library, which are included.
Three Unique Oscillator Plugins
DXOSC is a new FM oscillator with 25 algorithms, adjustable 2:1 ratio, and adjustable 3/4:1 ratio. It also has an onboard mod generator (LFO) with 24 shapes, speed, and depth control.
Then, TZFM is the second oscillator and uses dual waveform slots (A & B). A has 46 wave shapes while B has 44. Through-zero linear frequency modulation can be sent from A to B or from B to A. You can control the depth, adjust the ring mod, and adjust the bit-crush.
Alternatively, you can ignore the TZFM and use only the 90 different waveforms. Turn the shape knob fully left to get wave A, center for A&B, and fully right for wave B.
The third is STEPr, which works the same way as the TZFM oscillator model but with a difference. It includes an additional feature that lets you step through each of A & B’s waveforms for each note pressed. That sounds like a lot of fun.
You can step A or B only, or both A & B together. A TZFM option with ringmod is also onboard for extra crunchy harmonics. The pure option with all 90 waveforms is also available.
On top of that, Scott McAuley Sounds Elixir Vol 1 ships with five wavetable oscillators.
First Impression
A truly impressive sound library that Scott McAuley has created here. One that underscores just what a fantastic Synthesizer the Prologue actually is. It’s a real shame it is discontinued.
I hope Scott releases the oscillators for the other Logue synthesizers as well. They sound like a lot of fun.
