Liljeholmen DSP Trumsynt-16 is a new drum and percussion Synthesizer plugin for macOS and Windows that draws inspiration from the Moog DFAM.

Liljeholmen DSP, a new developer, has released Trumsynt-16, a plugin that is somewhat reminiscent of Moog hardware’s concept.
Liljeholmen DSP Trumsynt-16
Trumsynt-16 is a new drum and percussive Synthesizer plugin for macOS and Windows. The Liljeholmen DSP Trumsynt-16 is not a DFAM software clone, nor is this mentioned on the website. The user interface also looks different, but there are some similarities to the hardware.
Like the DFAM, it is based around the concept of a single voice. At its core are two multi-wave oscillators, each with frequency, VCO decay, and envelope amount.
VCO 1 also features metal, a unique waveform that consists of six detuned squares at fixed non-harmonic ratios. Great for metallic percussion. The oscillator path runs at 8x with FIR decimation, PolyBLEP square, and a band-limited triangle, so fast pitch sweeps stay clean without aliasing.
In the mix/transient section, you also have noise and click layers with independent decay controls. From here, it goes into a switchable low-pass and high-pass filter with classic cutoff and resonance controls plus a decay envelope.
Then, you can work in the VCA, which also has a decay envelope with pre- or post-drive. In total, you have six independent decay envelopes.
On the modulation side, you have a single multi-wave LFO as well as two modulators (A/B) with fixed destinations across pitch, filter, FM, decays, drive, pan, and UNTZ.
One of the Trumsynt-16’s unique features is its sequencer, reminiscent of the DFAM. It comes with a 2×8 step sequencer that runs alone or chained to 16. They control the pitch, velocity, modulation A, and modulation B, each with its own length.
Additionally, you can set the clock and add swing. Liljeholmen DSP ships Trumsynt-16 with 13 factory presets.
First Impression
At first glance, a fun drum Synthesizer that strongly resembles the DFAM concept with its single voice and two sequencer lanes for pitch and velocity. Okay, here you even have two more for modulation.
Liljeholmen DSP Trumsynt-16 is available now for 49€. It runs as a VST3 and AU plugin on macOS (native Apple Silicon + Intel) and Windows. A free trial without registration is available on the website.
