athousanddetails 9W9 is a new extension that brings a Roland TR-909 drum machine emulation into Ableton Move Schwung.
Gustavo Lima (athousanddetails) has ported AudioKit Pro’s open-source 606 code to the Ableton Move Schwung framework using the AI agent Claude. I reported on this. He didn’t just squeeze the TR-606 into the Move.
athousanddetails had already ported a Roland TR-909 to the Schwung a few days earlier, named 9W9.

The 9W9 by athousanddetails is a new Roland TR-909-style drum machine emulation for Ableton Move Schwung.
Reminder: Schwung (formerly Move Everything) is an unofficial, community-built open framework and alternative operating layer for Ableton Move that runs alongside the original firmware. This uses blocks/modules that the community can develop and load onto it.
Schwung ships with dozens of new instruments like OB-Xd and Dexed, effects, and more. The new 9W9 is yet another you can load into the Ableton Move open framework.
9W9 uses various open-source codes from ER-99, niner, Movy, and more. It features circuit-modeled kick, snare, toms, rim shot, and hand clap, while the hi-hats, ride, and crash are sample-based, just like in the real TR-909 drum machine
Fully Controllable From The Hardware & Browser
The synthesized voices are fully tweakable with various parameters. For example, the bass drum is based on a diode-rounded triangle with controllable pitch sweep, tune, attack, level, sub, and drive with various modes, and more
Plus, there is a master drive/distortion with various modes across the kit. Like the 6W6, the athousanddetails 9W9 is playable with the left 4×4 pads and controllable with the knobs mapped to parameters across several submenus. The internal Move sequencer triggers the sounds.

Another very exciting addition to the Swing framework. I’d be very interested in trying out Move and Swing, but the small display and the numerous menu dives hold me back.
