Sinevibes Quarta is a new plugin that turns your Korg NTS-3 Kaoss pad into a pocket, fun-to-use 4-zone playable multi-FX processor.

The Korg NTS-3 Kaoss pad is a small but powerful effects processor that allows you to load your own algorithms. This allows for extensive personalization of the NTS-3, enabling users to create their own unique FX processor.

Those who don’t code themselves have a wide range of third-party quality plugins available. For example, from Sinevibes. Quarta is the newest Sinevibes plugin, developed specifically for the NTS-3 Kaoss pad.

Sinevibes Quarta

The Korg NTS-3 Kaoss Pad allows the user to load four different effects into four slots. These can only be used individually, not all four at once with the same control interface.

Sinevibes pushes the potential further here, transforming the Korg NTS-3 Kaoss Pad into a quad processor with its Quarta plugin, without changing effects.

Quarta lets you process audio using four different algorithms configured as a 2×2 grid on the device’s XY pad. You can choose between 10 different effects: low-pass, high-pass, band-pass, notch. peaking, phaser, comb positive, comb negative, frequency shifter, and resampler.

Customization

These are not one-parameter gimmicks. You can map parameters individually for each effect type, allowing you to customize them to your needs. Plus, you have various parameter control modes for each zone to explore. 

You can set how you want to play these effect. You can explore them via manual control on the horizontal or vertical axis. You swipe from one side to the other.

Alternatively, you can also quickly trigger effects, or work with tempo-syncable animation. For the latter, you can select the curves and the durations. This gives you plenty of ways to customize it to a performance FX that fits your workflow

Neat, you can also independently randomize the effect type and the parameter value on each XY pad activation, giving you a new result every time and maybe a new inspiration.

First Impression

The NTS-3 is a fantastic FX processor that never gets boring, with a constant stream of new FX content to explore. I find the new Sinevibes Quarta particularly exciting because it brings out the Kaoss Pad nature of the NTS-3 even more.

It makes the pad even more performant than it already is. The ability to have multiple effects on one pad without switching algorithms is a big plus, allowing you to stay in your flow during performances.
