EMW VPOLY-6X is a new virtual analog polyphonic Synthesizer that is inspired by the architecture and musical character of the Korg Polysix.
Last December, the Brazilian company EMW (Electronic Music Works) returned with the WCS-X hybrid Synthesizer. Now, they’ve announced and released two new synths.
The first new announcement is the VAPoly-6X, a new virtual analog Synthesizer in a little box.
EMW VPOLY-6X
VPOLY-6X is a new desktop 6-voice virtual analog Sythesizer. It’s designed to deliver inspiring sound with an intuitive workflow, says the developer.
According to EMW, the new VPOLY-6X is inspired by the architecture and musical character of the legendary Korg Polysix from 1981. They emphasize that it is not a digital Polysix clone
Moreover, their philosophy is to preserve the simplicity and immediacy of the original while expanding it with modern features.
One key difference between the synths is very obvious. The Polysix has plenty of knobs and buttons on its interface, while the VPOLY-6X has only two: the main encoder and the volume knob.
Two knobs are very few and may deter many knob-loving synth enthusiasts. EMW says it has a simple-to-use, fast-to-program interface that doesn’t require complex menu navigation.
Not all the details about the synth are available yet, but they have shared some information on YouTube.
Polysix 6-Style Features
If we take the Polysix architecture, the VPOLY-6X features a single oscillator with saw, pulse width with PWM, and a sub-oscillator per voice. Unlike the original, it has a multimode filter (12/24 dB low-pass, high-pass, and band-pass).
The Korg Polysix had a single LFO and an ADSR envelope with gate on/off option. EMW says the synth includes a modern, advanced modulation engine. It is unknown whether the VAPoly-6X has more LFOs, envelopes, and more routing options.
Then, it has additional voice modes and onboard enhanced effects (probably chorus, phaser, ensemble, like on the Polysix 6),
EMW VPOLY-6X comes with full MIDI support, including CC for every parameter. Those who lack hardware parameters can obtain them via a MIDI controller. You can also use MIDI CCs for automation in the DAW.
On the connectivity side, it has a power supply input, 5-pin MIDI in and MIDI thru, and stereo output on L/R 6.3mm sockets.
First Impression
Based on the first video, the new VPOLY-6X sounds very nice. It seems to be a very simple synth, which might be a bit too predictable for many, considering it’s a new synth of 2026. But those who want something very simple and compact might find what they’re looking for here.
