British developer DecadeBridge has created some beautiful experimental synthesizers in recent years. Among other things, the Albers patchable drone synth in 2023.
One of the first synthesizers developed by DecadeBridge, the Entomo, is now making a limited-edition comeback.
DecadeBridge Entomo
Entomo is a 6-oscillator analog drone Synthesizer in a compact form. According to Steven of DecadeBridge, he recently came across some old Entomo stock and decided to reissue it. That’s the reason why it’s a limited edition.
It consists of six oscillators, each with dedicated pitch and tone controls. You can also decide in each channel whether the oscillator is routed to the audio output and used as an external choice. There is also an option to route external signals into each channel.
Interesting: there are no on/off switches or volume controls for the oscillators. Instead, it offers a patch bay that lets you activate the oscillators with jumper wires.
The vertical row of switches allows you to enable cross-modulation between the oscillators. This is available for each of the six oscillators. Great for disrupting and dictating the sound.
This feature allows you to create drones, noise, rhythmic chatter, and glitching sounds. Furthermore, there is a global volume control.
A 9V battery powers the Entomo drone synth. Alternatively, you can also use a 9V center-positive wall adaptor.
First Impression
A beautiful, simple drone Synthesizer. Not many features you can explore, but it’s enough to make interesting drones with it. Since it’s a limited edition, you shouldn’t wait too long if you want one of the first DecadeBridge synths.
DecadeBridge Entomo is now available for 167€ in limited quantities. It’s designed and built by hand in Cheshire, England.
