Arcaico Stigma is a new stereo dual-tube processor based around a self-oscillating filter, tubes, and distortion.
To add character to a clean sound, you can use effects like a wavefolder, distortion, or even a filter. In Eurorack, you usually need several modules for this.
The Italian company Arcaico has released Stigma, an analog module that combines many of these elements into a tube-enriched stereo processor.
Arcaico Stigma
Stigma is a new stereo analog multi-FX processor module for Eurorack. Arcaico describes Stigma as a versatile analog sonic organism, powered by real vacuum tubes and designed to disrupt your Eurorack ecosystem.
It’s configurable as a true stereo or dual-mono processor with two completely independent tube channels, giving you great flexibility. This allows you to process independent sources or shape a stereo signal.
You can envelope signals with warmth or go the noisy direction and use it as a heavy distortion stage for harsh, destructive clipping.
Then, each channel houses an analog filter molded around the tube character. It has cutoff frequency and resonance controls that can enable classic filter sweeps or invite users to go beyond them.
By cranking up the resonance level, you can put the filter into self-oscillation, turning the module into a percussive analog synth. Great, it also has a modulatable resonance, making more flexible percussive sounds possible.
Heavy kicks, industrial toms, and other unique sounds are possible. In the other case, it’s an analog tube processor that is designed to filter, mangle, and brutally distort audio signals.
Alongside stereo I/O, Stigma comes with extensive CV control for total, dynamic interaction with the rest of your modular system.
First Impression
At first glance, a beautiful module that adds warmth and character to the signals. It’s also a module for extreme sonic destruction. I can easily imagine this module in a dedicated modular FX unit, where it can also shape non-modular signals.
