Zen Delay
Zen Delay Virtual is not just a software replica of the Erica Synths hardware box, but an extended version.
A highlight of the plugin is its architecture, which offers a stereo delay with a characterful filter. The delay offers five distinct modes to choose from: tape, tape ping-pong, digital ping-pong, digital, and vintage.
You can tweak the input level, delay time, feedback, dry/wet, and use a tap tempo function. A multimode filter with low-pass, band-pass, and high-pass modes allows you to tweak the delay character.
Controls like cutoff and resonance make this an easy task. To spice up the filter, it also includes a tube distortion, noise, and a bit-crusher.
An organic infusion for your delays? No problem! The plugin version also offers a new LFO page that breathes surprising rhythmic animation to life, controlling filter and delay. This makes chorus-modulated delay effects like a chorus possible.
You can also go more experimental by exploring the FM and FM capabilities of the Zen Delay, by using the dedicated controls of the built-in LFO.
A highlight, unlike the hardware, is the ability to change the routing between the delay and filter stages. You can even insert the filter within the filter feedback loop. That’s a neat sound design feature.
Liquid Sky, Ninja Tune, and Erica Synths also ship the plugin with a preset browser with a selection of factory presets from sound designers: Mijk van Dijk, Nerk from TokTok, Dr. Walker of Air Liquide, Indian electronic artist Kiss Nuka, and others.

Having Echoboy and PrimalTap, I wonder if this peace might be needed? (doing unusual sound design stuff, not PingPong delay for singer).
I listened to demos and youtube for the software but don’t get it. Hardware for sure, turning knobs seems to me to be pretty amazing.

First impression: crashes LogicPro12.2 on Tahoe on M1Pro when pressing „Compare“ button. If that’s continuing I am out, too dangerous loosing creative work or get damaged project files. Searched internet and some users pointed out they expect no updates forever. Like an abandoned nice plugin. If next macOS is coming, I don’t know if I am able to use Zen Delay.
Another hint: man need midi controller for this. Otherwise it makes not as much fun. 🙂
