UVI Rumble is a new, unique Synthesizer plugin that lets you sculpt your bass sounds on a per-band basis with three independent frequency-based engines.
When crafting new patches on a hardware or software Synthesizer from scratch, one views sound as a whole. Adjustments to the sound so that it fits into the track occur either directly in the synth or later during mixing and mastering.
UVI has today released Rumble, a new novel Synthesizer where sounds can be designed on a multiband basis.
UVI Rumble
Designing a bass sound from scratch is often not the difficult part. It’s more about ensuring it fits seamlessly into the track and has a perfect low-end mix that complements it without overpowering it.
The new UVI Rumble Synthesizer plugin is designed precisely for these challenges. It aims to utilize flexibility to perfectly match bass sounds. The unique multiband design gives the user access to all the most important aspects of bass sounds.
Unlike classic bass synths, it features a per-band architecture, housing three independent frequency-based engines, each with its own synth voice, oscillators, wave-shapers, and effects, allowing for complex sculpting across the full sound spectrum.
The three independent frequency-based engines are: Body (for sub-bass weight and structural low end), Character (for tonal identity and harmonic richness), and Air (for top-end shimmer and articulation).
Each engine offers a multi-voice oscillator with nine distinct algorithms: analog, fold, sampler, morpho, timbral, kick, phonem, noise, and prisn, each with dedicated controls. These cover a wide range of different timbres, from soft to aggressive.
From here, it goes into a wave shaper module that offers 10 characterful algorithms, including hyperfold, clipper, soft and hard ring, noise, and more. These add extra character and bite to your bass.
Per-Band and Shared Shaping
The shared dual filter section is just as flexible, offering six flavorful types per filter: analog, variable, scream, formant, and more. They’ll keep you busy for a long time.
The multi-FX section, consisting of 10 algorithms—chorus, delay, reverb, and spectral transformers—is independent and operates per band. Additionally, there’s a band limiter that allows you to restrict the effect to the current band.
Also onboard is a master EQ that completes the audio signal path and unifies all three parts.
33 modulation sources, organized and controlled via a modulation matrix, bring movement to the bass. It houses four multi-wave LFOs with a complex source mixer, two 128-point multi-segment envelopes, three classic envelopes, and three chaotic random generators.
Alongside this, you can find sixteen DAW-automatable macros that give you an easy way to manipulate sounds without diving deep into the patches.
UVI Rumble ships with 500 presets crafted by working sound designers and genre-specialized producers. According to UVI, they offer a comprehensive panorama of electronic bass sounds, perfect as destinations or starting points.
UVI Rumble First Impression
Designing the perfect bass before mixing isn’t easy. Does it fit or not? That’s always the question. I think it’s clever to incorporate this step, which is usually done at the end, directly into the bass sound design. This way, you have an overview right from the start.
The fact that each band has its own synth engine makes the whole thing even more flexible and interesting. I’ve already had a chance to take a closer look at Rumble.
I immediately enjoy working with the UI. It’s very simple and easy to navigate. It has a bit of Pigments vibes. The engine for each band is very comprehensive and offers plenty of bass sounds.
I would have liked to see a physical modeling algorithm for designing a more realistic acoustic bass or a hybrid. Now it’s a very focused on electronic basses.

Rumble runs as a VST3, AU, and AAX plugin with NKS support on macOS (native Apple Silicon + Intel) and Windows. It requires an iLok software or key for up to three simultaneous computer authorizations.

Sounds really good. Super fat and polyvalent.
Some of the presets are Reminiscent of Vitalic and Etienne de Crecy in parts.

Interesting, but Ilok still a show stopper. UVI should start to respect their customers and not force them into Ilok.
