Eventide H9 Gen 2 is the 2nd generation of its harmonizer multi-FX pedal, built on the core of the H90 with all the algorithms & more controls
Eventide announced today that all H9 Core and Standard customers will be upgraded to the H9 Max at no extra cost, which includes all-new algorithms. This is because the second generation is about to be released.
After the nightly leak, Eventide has officially launched the H9 Harmonizer Gen 2 today, the successor to the H9 from 2013.
Eventide H9 Gen 2
After a solid 13 years on the market, with numerous variations, including limited-edition color options, the H9 has now been retired and replaced. Welcome to the Eventide H9 Harmonizer Gen 2, or short H9 Gen 2.
It’s a new and improved version of their popular multi-FX pedal. What immediately stands out is the complete redesign. The original H9 was a hardware disaster to operate and could only be controlled smoothly via the editor software. That’s different here.
The new H9 Gen 2 features a redesigned UI with a big OLED display, a big encoder, three quick knobs, four menu buttons, and two smaller buttons.
These major changes make the operation way more intuitive and user-friendly than in the original. Okay, that’s not difficult. And no app is needed to make changes.
It is built on the same ARM-based processor architecture as the H90 Harmonizer but offers only a single core, allowing you to run a single algorithm at a time. As a reminder, the H90 can run two algorithms.
Algorithms
On the algorithm side, the H9 Gen 2 benefits significantly from the new ARM CPU. First of all, it brings a more flexible signal path and better routing options, including wet/dry and pre/post.
There’s also been a huge move forward on the algorithm side. It expands the original H9 Max library to the full 74-algorithm collection found in the H90.
Classic effects like delays, reverbs, and high-fidelity polyphonic pitch shifter using SIFT technology are on board. Even more exciting, you can also explore the latest granular processors, vocal effects, and synth-style manipulation tools.
It allows you to transform vocals with the Harmonizer+ suite together with Mixing Link (sold separately). Like on the H90, the footswitches are fully programmable, and it also supports HotKnob and HotSwitch macro controls.
The H9 Gen 2 also supports seamless spillover of effects between presets. There is also a built-in tuner. Of course, you can also save your favorite parameters in presets. Over 1000 factory presets are included, and the device remains compatible with existing H9 patches.
Connectivity
The Eventide H9 Gen 2 has gained functionality not only on the front panel but also on the back. As for connectivity, it now houses stereo I/O (both instrument and line-level), a USB-C port, and 5-pin MIDI ports on the side.
Further, they include new select, bank, and perform modes with dedicated buttons for more flexible workflows.
Eventide H9 Gen 2 First Impression
I’ve been using the H9 for many years and love its algorithms. However, the user interface somewhat discouraged me from using the pedal more often. I’m very happy that the H9 is now getting a new generation with more exciting algorithms and improved usability.
The new Eventide H9 Gen 2 will be available on June 24, 2026, for $599. It’s ready for pre-order.
A limited number of preorders will include an exclusive H9 gift featuring custom artwork inspired by the pedal’s internal design — available while supplies last.

Hate it. I just hate pedals. Give me something in desktop format with normal controls and not having the I/O all over the place. Also at that price you could get a secondhand H90.
Eventide: “Should we make it look almost exactly like the Line 6 HX One? Don’t answer that! The answer is YES.”
HX One has a sweet customized modulation ASR envelope called Flux. It sweeps an effect’s parameter (or all FX parameters) between two customized values. Which can be saved and recalled as a preset. It’s triggered with the stomp switch or controlled manually with an expression pedal. I’d recommend it easily.
