Elektron has today released the Analog Four OS 1.55 with the new Euclidean sequencer mode, control all, loop pages, and more.
In recent months, Elektron has focused heavily on new products like the Tonverk, Digitakt Mk2, and others.
Now they’re turning their attention back to an older instrument. Today, Elektron released new firmware for the Analog Four Synthesizer.
Elektron Analog Four OS 1.55
The new OS 1.55 is now available as a free download and is compatible with the Elektron Analog Four MKI, MKII, and Keys. This brings some great new features that allow customers to rediscover the Analog Four.
Like the Analog Rytm MKII and other devices, the Analog Four now also offers the creative Eulidean sequencer mode. It brings a new sense of motion to your patterns, courtesy of two Euclidean generators that algorithmically distribute trig-like pulses across a sequence.
Add, subtract, and control these pulses and their placement in your sequence. Combine both generators to create patterns that – subtly or dramatically – shift, interlock, and evolve at the twist of a knob. A powerful, fully adaptable tool for rhythmic exploration.
Then, firmware OS 1.55 adds a page loop to the Analog Four menu table. It lets you instantly jump to the sequencer page you want to work in, as well as looping it with ease alongside any other specific pages you want to focus on.
Hang in one place and replay, or tweak until the sound is just right, until you’re ready to de-loop.
More Goodies
Also now onboard is the Control All function that gives you full, simultaneous control over all parameters across all tracks by holding track and twisting away on your parameter of choice.
Go off in whatever wild sonic direction that surfaces, safe in the knowledge that you can always reload and return to your saved state.
Firmware OS 1.55 also refreshes the Elektron Analog Four’s built-in arpeggiator with a new rotate function. Rotate your offsets to ensure your arp sequence isn’t set in stone, and find new melodic pathways.
There are a handful more features, with Save Trig to Sound a welcome little addition, as well as a number of helpful improvements and fixes. You can find the full changelog on the website.
First Impression
I’m pleased that Elektron continues to support its older products like the Analog Four with new features. Keep in mind that the Analog Four MKI was released in 2012, and there’s a new firmware update today. That’s great support.

I’m consistently impressed by Elektron’s commitment to provide steady support to its older products. This really should be a model for other companies.
For such an expensive synth the new updates take forever don’t you think?
I’m still waiting on the Tonverk to work as it should.
If Elektron needs to fix one thing it’s focus and if they’re not releasing a big update for tonverk with official sample editor in the coming months I’m ditching mine.

The only update i need from elektron is new buttons that don’t get sticky. i’m reluctant to use the A4 & 8A because of that.
You can get both smooth and rubber coated replacement buttons directly from electron now… They are a bit pricy with shipping but you can find them listed under add-ons in their shop.

Every Analog Four update is exciting because maybe this will finally be the one that adds a scale quantizer.
