34Audiovisuals has released JenDie, a new AUv3-compatible Synthesizer that emulates a vintage Italian synth.

JenDie is an emulation of the Jen SX-1000, a monophonic analog Synthesizer produced in Italy during the late 1970s. Yes, this is not the first emulation of it. AudioThing already did one back in 2025. Btw: it was one of the first synths designed for a low-budget market.
According to Diego Capoccitti of 34Audiovisuals, the JenDie faithfully recreates the signal architecture (VCO, VCF…) of the original hardware with analog imperfection simulation. iOS users benefit from an optimized DSP that runs smoothly on iPhones and iPads.
Unlike the AudioThing version, the developer left the JenDie a monophonic Synthesizer and didn’t turn it into a polysynth. Users can modify the engine by choosing between a vintage mode for an authentic sound and a clean mode for a more precise sound.
It offers the same features as the original. It starts with a single oscillator with continuous waveform morphing (saw, square, and pulse) and adjustable pulse width. Alongside this, you have a pink/white noise generator that supports the single oscillator.
You can also shape and modulate the pulse width for a richer PWM sound. Then the sound passes through a nonlinear Moog ladder filter based on the Huovilainen model, with self-oscillation.
Interestingly, AudioThing does not mention a “Moog” filter for its emulation. JenDie also has two independent exponential ADSR envelopes for the VCF and VCA. A DAW-sycable LFO is also on board for modulating pitch, pulse width, and filter cutoff.
Besides this, it has a built-in glide (portamento) with up to a 3-second range per octave and full MIDI support, including CC for the parameters.
JenDie also comes with a preset manager that includes 46 factory presets, including classic vintage leads, basses, and more. Alternatively, you can organize, save, and recall your own sounds from it.
First Impression
AudioThing had already presented the JX1000 in 2025, offering a beautiful-sounding synth. Now, more than a year later, there’s another emulation of this once low-budget analog synth. I can’t compare the two for authenticity since I don’t own a JEX SX-1000.
The JenDie sounds very solid in the initial demos. I don’t know if owners of the first need another emulation of this rather simple synth. If you don’t already have one, this offers a somewhat cheaper option.
34Audiovisuals JenDie is available now for 9,99€. It runs as a VST3, AU, and AAX plugin on macOS (native Apple Silicon + Intel) and Windows. The iOS version with AUv3 support also runs on macOS and is out now for $4,99 on the Apple App Store.
