Superbooth 2026: Tangible Waves AE Solina-16 is a 16-voice Solina string machine emulation for the AE Modular system.

At the end of last year, Tangible Waves released the WAEVE82, a PPG Wave 2 synthesizer emulation for the AE Modular with 8-voice polyphony and modularity.

At Superbooth 2026, Robbie Langer from Tangible Waves announced the AE Solina-16, a Solina emulation for the AE Modular.

The AE Solina-16 is the successor to the AE Solina module, developed in collaboration with Jan Ostman. But this didn’t have full polyphony. The new AE Solina-16 is different.

It’s a 16-voice Synthesizer module that emulates the sound of the Solina string machine from the 70s. Like the original, the sound is based on several minor detuned sawtooth oscillators and an ensemble effect.

Alongside full 16-voice polyphony, it now includes a new chorus and a 4 or 8-stage phaser effect alongside the ensemble effect. The module gives you full control over all parameters.

The first section has all the controls for the Solina emulation, including major/minor, selectable bass, pitch, spread, chord option, and more. In the middle, you can choose between an ensemble and the new chorus effect. Both effects are tweakable with three parameters.

In the end, you have the new phaser with switchable 4- or 8-stage operation. You can adjust the sound with rate and depth, work with positive or negative feedback, and with a width parameter.

Like the other modules, the AE Solina-16 offers full integration into any AE Modular system, including a patch matrix with in and out CV/gate connections, iMIDI connectivity, stereo L/R outputs, and more.

A sound demo is available in the latest SYNTH NEWS Superbooth 2026 video.

First Impression

I was able to capture a short sound demo at Superbooth 2026. The emulation sounds very good to me, and I’m pleased that Tangible Waves continues to bring complete synths to the AE Modular format.

Tangible Waves AE Solina-16 availability and price are TBA.
