Superbooth 2026: Schlappi Engineering Forest is an upcoming 16-voice polyphonic FM Synthesizer based on the Three Body module.
This year, as in years past, saw a huge number of new synthesizers, Eurorack modules, effects, etc at Superbooth. It’s understandable that some of them received less attention. Here’s an example.
Eric from Schlappi Engineering has previewed Forest at Superbooth 2026, an upcoming polyphonic FM Synthesizer.
Schlappi Engineering Forest
Forest is a new 16-voice desktop polyphonic FM Synthesizer. At its core, Forest is based on the Three Body Eurorack module, an FPGA-based triple-oscillator module.
The developer declined to provide many details about the Synthesizer, as it’s still a very early prototype and everything is subject to change, including the name.
You can see a user interface with a matrix layout of 20 knob parameters and 19 buttons, each with an LED indicator. I like that; hopefully, it will remain in the final product.
Details about the engine are unavailable, but I expect many of the Three Body’s features will be included in the Forest like phase modulation, logarithmic and exponential FM, and cross modulation.
Additionally, the prototype has many buttons on the left side that show some of the features, including coarse and fine tuning for the oscillators, the filter, two ADSR envelopes, octave down/up, and more.
Eric gave me a short sound demo of the Forest.
Early Impression
It’s still too early to give a more comprehensive first impression, but I like the sound of the first prototype.
Schlappi Engineering Forest availability and price are TBA. Eric said he plans to release it probably in 2027.
