Superbooth 2026: OXI has released the OXI One MKII hardware sequencer with a major firmware update, 2.0, featuring new modes and more.
A year ago, the Spanish company Oxi Instruments released the OXI MK2 hardware sequencer.
At Superbooth 2026, the developers celebrated the sequencer’s first anniversary with a major firmware update, version 2.0.
Firmware 2.0
The new firmware 2.0 was released just in time for Superbooth 2026. Before installing this new version, users should back up their projects and instrument definitions. OXI says the latter will be cleared with the new update.
OXI One MKII 2.0 introduces three new creative sequencer modes. SAGA is a duration-based step sequencer that operates with individual step lengths rather than a fixed grid. In this mode, steps can play polyphonic chords or notes at different durations.
DOMINO is a trigger-layered sequencer mode (mono/poly) with independent, but synchronized, trigger and note layers. The trigger section consists of up to 64 steps and is populated with triggers that will then control the 32 steps of the note section.
Each trigger in the trigger section drives the playback position in the note section. The third and last new mode is the MIDI Player. It allows MIDI playback in the .MID format. Once imported via the microSD card, you can playback them
Then firmware 2.0 introduces a new chord palette for chord mode and an all-new MIDI capture function that uses the sequencer’s MIDI note recording buffer. It records the notes you play in the background when using keyboard mode or an external MIDI controller.
The buffer can be cleared and reset or converted to notes, populated into the active sequencer. MIDI Capture will record: Notes, Chords, Multi-track tracks, tied notes, arp notes, and the last events
Other additions include a new keyboard chord recognition, independent parameter transport (velocity/gate / repeat) for MONO, CHORD, and MULTITRACK modes, and MIDI channel multiplexing. Lastly, it comes with plenty of fixes and minor improvements.
Happy Birthday OXI One MKII! It’s one of the most powerful hardware sequencers available, and this update underlines that once again. The new additions make it even more versatile.
OXI One MKII firmware 2.0 is available now as a free update for existing users.

Update: OXI One MKII is ready for pre-order from the official website, Thomann, Perfect Circuit, Music Store and other retailers.
Hardware sequencers are often the center of a DAW-less, pattern-based setup. They combine MIDI and CV-based instruments into a single, unified whole. The OXI One is particularly popular because it offers a lot of functionality and programmability with a high level of visual feedback in a neat, sleek package.
After five successful years on the market, the sequencer is now entering its second life. Ahead of Superbooth 25, Oxi Instruments has announced the OXI One MKII with significant feature upgrades, including more tracks, more memory, and hardware control
OXI One MKII
Visually, the One MKII looks very similar to its predecessor, but there are differences. OXI One MKII has a larger OLED display, more function buttons, and pads to access the four extra tracks. The hardware also comes with an improved battery level indicator.
Yes, the second generation has eight sequencers instead of four, with up to 64 tracks. Then, it will get a new performance mode, an improved arranger mode, and an option to configure custom scales freely. Net is also the addition of new logic functions.
Still on board are the eight modulation lines per sequencer track, but thanks to the eight sequencer tracks, you now have 64 modulation lines. Same applies to the LFOs, giving you now 16 LFOs in total. According to OXI Instruments, aftertouch animations will not be available, which is a shame.
The upcoming OXI One MKII also has all the popular features of the latest firmware updates, including advanced generative tools with its arpeggiators.
Alongside the extra CV/gate outputs for four extra tracks, another addition is a microSD card slot to store infinite projects, grooves, and scales. It also ships with a new OXI app for better integration and user data management. Plus, it comes with two extra CV inputs.
In case you use an extensive range of MIDI instruments, there is also an OXI Split V2 expander that gives you up to 6 MIDI ports and 96 MIDI channels. Other features of the OXI One MKII are:
- innovative and unique accumulator and repeat engines
- Groove engine – create, share and import your own grooves
- FLOW – Add an extra layer of performance
- instantly load any of the 20 projects from the internal storage
- huge Instruments database with user created definitions
- enhanced logic conditions
- tons of randomization options (MKI)
- Euclidean & drum pattern generators (MKI)
- ….
First Impression
The OXI One MKI sequencer offers a very well-rounded package. Many classic and modern inspiring features, a positive update policy, and a very accessible operation. The MKII version looks like an excellent development, especially now with four extra tracks and more hands-on control.

Excited for this!
Is there MPE support?
MPE or simply touch sensitive pads. Then it could replace my Launchpad Pro mk3 sequencer…
Why is it “beloved”? Most people have not heard of OXI or seen their products. Something like the TB-303 is beloved because it’s a much sought-after classic. This is just a modern grid sequencer.
Most people using hardware synths with sequencers heard of it 😉 Only here in Vienna, I see it in many live setups of the live concerts and synth meetings organized by my association in which I’m part of. Of course the grand-ma of my neighbor didn’t hear of it 😉
You’re lucky, my neighbor’s grandma won’t shut up about it. Oxi this, Hapax that…
I think Oxi is pretty well known at this point. And their stuff is awesome.
What an odd thing to find issue with.
Got the oxi one and I am completely happy with it.
Brilliant peace of gear.
And a very good customer service and direct communication with the developers.
I think and hope that the new oxi will be a success !!!
Love the this OxiII,looks beautiful, would be nice with synths built in, have Deluge and Cirklon, I may move to this in part , hope it sells well for continued developments
I love my Oxi One. It is a brilliant piece of kit and very fun to use. It has gotten a ton of firmware upgrades thru the years with new features and fixing bugs. I havent used it to the top of its capabilities so Im keeping my mk1 but gotta say Im tempted to grab this and keep the mk1 as a spare.
I just adore my Oxi one. The firmware improvements have been dramatic. The hardware is beautifully crafted. And it’s so good with modular because it has 8 CV and 8 gate outs.
I’ll definitely be in line for the mk2.
This is available now, btw, I preordered mine earlier this morning.
Thank you for feqturing my video! I noticed some traffic from here 🙂
I think 2.0 brings a lot of cool features. I hope Oxi will focus on squashing bugs for a while now
Oh wow, I had absolutely no idea that enshittification could infect hardware sequencers too. Shocking! The exact second the MKII dropped, I dumped my Oxi MKI faster than a hot potato.
Silly me, I actually thought they were a company with the potential to build a rock-solid platform that would last for decades. But hey, good old capitalism and pure greed corporate-mandated an MKII version. You know, with ‘more features, blah blah, because the users begged for it, blah blah’…insert every generic marketing narrative here. Naturally, the MKI was banished to the secondhand market within months, tanking in value and left entirely for dead with zero updates. I genuinely thought this company was different, but surprise! They’re just cranking out disposable consumer garbage instead of sustainable gear.
I literally messaged the Oxi CEO back then, asking how an allegedly premium, built-to-last sequencer like the Oxi One could already be obsolete. Instead of self-reflection, his masterclass advice was: ‘Just buy the new one!’ Genius. No thanks, I’m done drinking your Kool-Aid, so I sold mine off. Oxi is definitely not a cool company anymore.
They are executing the enshittification playbook with absolute perfection. Bravo! Keep funding mindless consumerism and making non-sustainable junk. The planet really thanks you for your service.
What is this guy talking about?
You could’ve kept your MK I, it still worked just as it was when you bought it, even with a MKII out there, only you think it is obsolete.
It’s not OXI’s fault you went and sold it. I honestly can’t really tell what the issue is here- you are upset that the value of your MKI dropped after the MKII came out? That’s it? It’s not like MKII came out months after the MKI, it’s very reasonable for a company to come out with a new product years after the original came out. I bought a used MK I just six months ago from Perfect Circuit, works great. And of course the CEO isn’t going to respond to some random person who is unhappy about ________. You are alone in your feelings here.
enshittification doesnt mean what you think lol no wonder your comment is all kinds of lost.
