Superbooth 2026: Korg showcases a mysterious new prototype Synthesizer wrapped in plastic at its booth in Berlin.

Korg has two booths at Superbooth 2026 this year. One booth is located in the entrance area, focusing more on the arts. Here, Korg is showcasing prototypes—including a new, large, mysterious Synthesizer currently concealed beneath a plastic sheet.

Korg declined to provide me with any information regarding the new Synthesizer. Even under embargo, no details were available—so don’t worry, I’m not keeping anything from you here.

The new prototype Synthesizer was installed yesterday. I thought they would remove the plastic film this morning. I was wrong. It’s going to stay on the Korg prototype for the entire duration of Superbooth 2026.

We see a 5-octave Synthesizer with many LEDs and visual feedback. You can also see that it has numerous knobs. There is also a screen on the right side.

The many LEDs on the left side are an eye-catcher. They look like LED touch faders. Classic pitch- and modwheels are available on the left side.

Above the keybed is a row of step LEDs that strongly recalls the classic step sequencer design of Korg synths: the Minilogue, the Monologue…

The question of all questions is what it will be: a long-awaited prologue MK2, or something completely different. I would like to see a physical modeling synth à la Z1. Let’s see.

  1. I would be willing to sell one of my five Prologue 16s in order to buy this Prologue 16 MkII…?

    • i only have two :0( lol. tbh, this doesn’t really look like a logue type follow on synth to me; knob placement is wrong. ymmv.

      • actually looking closer, it looks remarkably like a prologue with extra LED’s, and the XD buttons. looks like a compressor on the right, 8 envelope knobs. filter knobs in the center with a mystery filter knob. six knobs for effects now, and some menu controls and a few multiengine knobs – much less than the MK2 exposed logue knobs. on the left, VCO controls are basically the same locations, and layer controls and extra on the left. good enough to cause a stir in advance of an announcement. with all the logue stuff floating around, and the timing… it makes sense. let’s hope it actually is a Prologue II.

That’s one of the most pathetic things I’ve seen a company do. If this is how they wanna behave towards the synth community than maybe we all should just leave Korg in the dark as well.

    • Still effective enough to generate news and your reaction and comment on it. Which us not ‘ignoring’ btw. Don’t get the saltyness about this, btw.

I hope they at least play some tunes from this thing. Couldn’t care less, about what a synth looks like, since I actually play these things and not collect them for Insta.

      • It’s only effective to generate news because websites like this one write about it. They (and you based on your comment) appear to be in the camp of “all press is good press”. I’m in total agreement with Champ.

    • THIS is one of the most pathetic things you’ve seen a company do?! How long have you been a member of the “synth community”? A few hours?

Please exclude me from this “synth community” if it can’t handle a keyboard under some plastic at a trade show meant simply to generate interest in upcoming products for you to keep talking about online.

      • Honestly, does anyone use this website for community? Pretty sure a majority of people use this website to look at synth news and really nothing else.

Ignore the wankers in the comments. As far as I am concerned, Korg successfully teased a majority of us who are interested in seeing what they have to offer.

I am very interested to know what this is. It’s obviously a flagship synth and likely outside of my budget, but I absolutely love what Korg has been doing over the last 10 years.

  3. If they were smart, they would combine multiple synth engines from the Multi-Poly, the OpSix, the Wave State, etc into a nice, larger, 5-octave (minimum) Fatar keybedded synth. I would be all over that like flies on a pile of poop

    • I thought Frankenstein-ing was Roland’s job 😉
But seriously, I don’t know how the UI would look like. These things are jampacked already with not enough controls. But here’s a hack for you. Get all VSTs of these and buy a used Hydrasynth and a Launchcontrol for more mapping.

  4. Prologue 2 maybe? Honestly although Korg is still a favourite of mine, this stunt and the thousand year wait for an electro kalimba seem weak.

  5. I can see it being a Prologue 2 but with Wavesequencing. Two VCOs and 1 or 2 digital oscillators which handle wavetables, FM and samples. I guess Korg’s take on Dave Smith’s Poly Evolver?

Hey Sequential aren’t doing anything innovative for the past few years, why not go for it?

  6. Perhaps a Prologue mk2.

From what little we can see, it might also be, as mentioned, a synthesizer integrating a multi-engine (modwave, wavestate, opsix, multipoly).

However, as it’s only a prototype, it’s not likely to be released anytime soon.

This is the beginning of the Superbooth, but no major news from Korg, just like from Roland and Arturia.

    To be continued…

  7. I assume it will be an analogue poly, since the knobs are replicas of the original Mono/Poly & Polysix…

  8. if they really want to generate some news….leave the plastic on for the first 2 days and then stage someone coming in and tearing it off. Everyone would run to the synth and take photos to post to socials immediately.

  9. Jeez. How is this worse than teaser pics that don’t say anything except new hardware from brand x? Korg figured the simplest way to generate the same buzz. Good job, Korg! The entitled 4chan attitudes here are pathetic.

Looks interesting. Hope it’s a next generation Prologue, as many people want this. Not me, but I would be glad for those!

  10. The Knobs incredibly similar to those found on the Delia and NINA. Possibly a collaboration? Korg back end with Melbourne Instruments interface with motorized knobs???

  11. Please God let this be a dedicated sampler! An expanded Modwave, with four layers of multi-timbrality, an enormous amount of sample RAM thrown in and the ease-of-use of Korg’s original MicroSampler!

    Please! Pleeeeaaaase!!!
