Koala Sampler, the popular SP-404-style sampler app, now lets you use AUv3 instrument and FX plugins as sound sources and sound shapers.
The Koala Sampler app for iOS and macOS is one of the most successful music apps on the market. It’s considered the software equivalent of the legendary Roland SP-404 sampler.
AUv3 support has been available for some time now. An update has just been released that improves this even further.
Koala Sampler Mixer AUv3 Plugins
Elf Audio released update 1.4162 for the Koala Sampler today. This update is particularly exciting for users of the mixer add-on, as the developer has added AUv3 host functionality, allowing you to load instruments into the Koala Sampler.
This massively upgrades the sampler app. You can use your favorite instruments and effects inside Koala Sampler. Previously, you could only work with the built-in effects. Now you can also use your favorite AUv3 plugins, such as FabFilter and Eventide. It also enables the use of creative AUv3 effects that go beyond simple sound refinement.
The operation is simple. Open the sample or mixer page, then select the AUv3 plugins for the respective channel from the drop-down menu. Gavinski’s Tutorials has made a short video explaining how this works.
First Impression
A great update for the Koala Sampler that makes the app even more polished and standalone. Thanks, Elf Audio!
The new AUv3 instruments or effects capability is part of the Koala Sampler mixer add-on, available for $4.99 as an in-app purchase.

Again this upgrades Koala to a whole new world. Thanks so much for the free update.
Wow, that means something.
They should go for some designers to develop a control surface for that app.
After all they can enter the market as competiotion to Akai’s MPC line.
Hehe…
Competiotion is good for customers and keep the business running.
A gift that keeps on giving
