Superbooth 2026: Ferry Island Modular Undertow & Beacon: a 2D wavetable VCO/LFO matrix and a pingable VCA/lowpass gate.
The young Finnish company Ferry Island Modular launched a year ago with the Four Seas, an exciting 4D wavetable oscillator for Eurorack. This year, the company is expanding its portfolio with two new modules.
Ahead of Superbooth 2026, Ferry Island Modular announced Undertwo and Beacon.
Ferry Island Modular Undertow
Undertow is a new 16HP two-dimensional wavetable VCO and LFO matrix for Eurorack.
Unlike Four Seas, the Ferry Island Modular Undertow is primarily a modulation module for complex, evolving signals. It can also be used as a 2D wavetable oscillator.
At its core is a modulation system with a 5-by-3 CV matrix, with 15 simultaneous outputs, each with a unique position between two wavetable LFOs. This gives you 15 unique LFO outputs.
On the front panel, you can adjust the frequency and morph the waveforms across the horizontal axis. You can choose between five banks of wavetables. The modulation section lets you control the waveshape type and adjust the mod amount.
On the connection side, it has end-of-cycle outputs and clock inputs on both sides, CV control over all parameters with attenuators, and 15 LFO outputs. To me, it’s a fascinating new digital wavetable LFO.
Ferry Island Modular Beacon
In addition to the Undertow, Ferry Island Modular is showing a second module called Beacon at Superbooth 2026.
Beacon is a compact 4HP stereo pingable character VCA and LPG, with physically modeled Vactrol response and smooth OTA distortion. It’s not only a traditional stereo VCA.
Pingabe means you can send a ping into the module, and it responds with the organic rise and decay of a Vactrol. You can use it as a traditional stereo or switch to LPG mode, with two different responses from the same ping.
This produces results similar to combining a VCA with a filter. Very organic, smooth results perfect for plucky sounds, reminiscent of the Buchla world.
On the front panel, you have stereo connectivity (L/R in/out), two CV inputs, and controls for character, level, and LPG mode.
First Impression
Two exciting new modules. The 2D wavetable LFO looks very original and different from anything seen before. The stereo VCA/LPG also looks very useful.
