Superbooth 2026: Doepfer goes 1U, debuting six new modules in the horizontal layout and a new Eurorack case featuring a 1U row.

Dieter Doepfer is the founding father of the Eurorack format. His modules typically feature a rather classic design and are very hands-on.

Superbooth 2026 brought a surprise: for the first time, Doepfer showcased 1U modules in the Intellijel format as well as a new case featuring a 1U row. Something few expected

Doepfer goes 1U

Many thought the modules from March were the new ones for Superbooth 2026. They were mistaken. In Berlin, Doepfer unveiled a new case and the first six 1U modules. Let’s start with the case.

The P7 Case is essentially the P6, but now with an extra 1U (Intellijel) row. It therefore features three rows of 84 HP each for mounting modules. There is no information regarding whether the power supply will be updated in the P7.

Alongside the new case, six modules will receive the 1U adaptation, in silver or black finish. The first is the A-130-3 (1U), a dual linear/exponential VCA. Each VCA has a manual gain control and a voltage input with an attenuator.

Each channel is DC-coupled and has an input, an output, and a CV input, plus a switch to switch between linear and exponential modes.

Then, the A-142-5 contains two simple envelope generators that can also function as A/D LFOs. You can switch between envelope and LFO via the toggle switch.

When in position “OFF”, the unit acts as an envelope generator, with the envelope triggered by the positive edge of the trigger signal applied to the “Trig.” socket. The attack time can be tweaked on the back side from 1ms to 15ms. The factory setting is about 3 ms, which is the TB-303’s attack time.

More Modules

The A-138-6 (1U) is a monophonic mixer with six inputs and a routing/hard panning option. Each channel offers a switch that allows you to select the first, 1+2, or second output.

The fourth module, A-142-6, is a simple attack-decay envelope generator with a loop function, trigger input, and output. When a trigger signal is applied in LFO mode, the envelope and LFO signals interfere with each other.

Also, the CV/gate sequencer that Doepfer released last year at Superbooth will be available soon in a 1U variant. The functions of the A-155-3 (1U) are the same as for the A-155-2, including eight adjustable steps, ratcheting, clock input, and more.

Further, the A-190-7 (1U) is the 1U version of the A-190-9 MIDI-to-CV/gate interface. It has MIDI input and MIDI Thru sockets on 3.5mm and two CV/gate outputs.

Doepfer also showcased new protoypes at Superbooth 2026, including a new Quad Resonance Filter.

First Impression

A very surprising release from Doepfer. A belated move, but a good one—especially since the case now features a 1U row.

The new Doepfer 1U products are available in June/July 2026:
