Behringer JT-16 VST is an upcoming Roland Jupiter-8 Synthesizer emulation from the makers of a hardware clone of the same name.

Over the past few days, 14 different unreleased Behringer hardware products have appeared on their new website. I reported on this this morning. Now, a new software has surfaced.

On the website, you can find a page for an upcoming Behringer JT-16 VST.

Interestingly, the Pro-16 and the JT-16 were not among the 14 unreleased products this morning. However, the latter has now surfaced as software, specifically the Behringer JT-16 VST.

As a reminder, the JT-16 is Behringer’s attempt to recreate the Roland Jupiter-8, using the original circuits, but with 16 voices and other new modern features.

The last update we heard about the JT-16 came from NAMM 2025, alongside the PRO-16, when the hardware was showcased. Since then, things have been quiet regarding the Roland Jupiter-8 clone.

Now, with the upcoming release of a software version of their hardware clone, which is currently in development, things have changed a bit. It’s unclear why they’re releasing a software version.

Perhaps they want to test the waters and gauge interest, or it also serves as a software editor/librarian for the hardware. There are no downloads available for the software yet. This is very similar to when Behringer released the free Vintage plugin back in April 2024.

What Is Behringer JT-16 VST?

According to the official description, it’s a “vintage virtual Synthesizer modeled on the legendary early 1980’s classic.” It’s clearly a Roland Jupiter-8 emulation.

Moreover, it uses a “virtual analog engine with meticulous recreation of all the original oscillators, filters, and envelopes. Authentic arpeggiator operation and direct front panel access to all the original factory patches and presets.”

The JT-16 VST features a very familiar design, very similar to the Jumper-8. It also differs from the design shown at NAMM 2025.

In the pictures, you can also see that the plugin has two layers that can be divided as desired.

There is also a multi-FX engine with switchable chorus, delay, and reverb, but in a second foldable UI. A preset browser is also available with patch categories, filtering, and more.

Besides this, there are also sections where you can assign parameters to macros or MIDI controls.

First Impression

This is a surprise. Many are waiting for the hardware, and then Behringer shows up with a VST version without any announcement. I’m curious to hear how it sounds and whether it will be free like the previous Vintage plugin.

I’m wondering if we’ll see a V Collection from Behringer in the future.

Behringer JT-16 VST availability and price are TBA.
