Ahead of SynthFest France 2026, Liquid Sky D-Vices introduces Smudgetizer Pro, a stereo desktop bitcrusher FX for evolving sonic destruction.
The Liquid Sky ArtistCollective, led by Dr. Walker, is making its debut at SynthFest France this year. Dr. Walker is going all out. Following this morning’s announcement of the revival of the PPG 300 Modular System, the Portuguese company and collective has another new product on its booth.
Liquid Sky D-Vices, their own device brand, has introduced the Smudgetizer Pro, a unique desktop FX unit for heavy sonic manglings.
Liquid Sky D-Vices Smudgetizer Pro
Smudgetizer Pro is a new, unique hardware FX unit built in the beloved Erica Synth Zen Delay format, a product they collaborated on. Liquid Sky D-Vices is already warning that the new Smudgetizer Pro isn’t another bread-and-butter FX processor.
The Smudgetizer Pro is a stereo 2-bit bitcrusher developed in collaboration with Thilo Goldschmitz. Dr. Walker describes it as a beautifully destructive stereo machine.
It has a wide variety of parameters, giving you hands-on control over the sound destruction. Each channel, left and right, has the same set of parameters. Plus, you have a middle section with the main functions that apply to both channels.
Many of them will be familiar to anyone who has already worked with bitcrusher effects, like the sample rate. Others are new.
Smudgetizer Pro also includes an LFO on each side with control over the waveform, rate, and more, allowing you to animate the 2-bit bitcrushing process. This results in dynamic and evolving signal destruction.
It’s designed to bend, fkk up, break, and reassemble your sound into something floor-shakingly new and evil, say the developers.
Alongside stereo connectivity, Liquid Sky D-Vices also added tons of analog connectivity for connecting and interacting with other devices. You get MIDI ports with MIDI clock sync, plus CV/gate inputs and outputs, enabling various features.
Liquid Sky D-Vice’s Smudgetizer Pro works with all kinds of signals, from synthesizers and drum machines to samples and even guitars and basses. One thing is certain: your signals won’t stay clean here; they will go through a true noise system.
First Impression
Looks like a fun desktop stereo FX unit that can greatly fkk up your signal in a good way. I like that it has so many knobs, which makes it very hands-on. In the prototype videos, it already sounds beautifully wild and destructive.
Liquid Sky D-Vices Smudgetizer Pro is now available for pre-order at 299€ + VAT + shipping. A Eurorack version will be available in the autumn.
