Superbooth 2026: Cre8audio programm is a new standalone/Eurorack 12-track MIDI and CV/gate sequencer with modern features.

Last March, Richard Nicol of Pittsburgh Modular previewed the Cre8audio programm sequencer in a SonicTalk video and later at the London Synth Expo.

Leaking or previewing is done now. The programm sequencer is out now.

The programm is a 40HP 12-channel MIDI and CV sequencer that works both in a Eurorack case and as a standalone sequencer.  Since much of this is already known from the initial article, here is an overview of all features.

  • 12-channel MIDI and CV/gate sequencer
  • 4 monophonic melodic sequencers with MIDI (two with dedicated analog pitch CV and gate outputs)
  • 8 drum sequencers with dedicated gate outputs
  • dedicated parameter controls for pitch, gate length, ratcheting, CV/CC, note offset, and step conditions
  • customizable randomization of all parameters by step and/or by sequencer
  • sequences can have up to 64 steps, and each can have a different length
  • 32-step grid functions as a step programmer in step mode, a grid keyboard in live mode, and a dynamic information display while adjusting parameters

Cre8audio programm

  • save up to 64 patterns and 32 songs
  • key and scale option
  • swing but also 6 distinct groove modes that goes beyond classic swing
  • 4 customizable pattern generator algorithms provide a wide range of starting points to build a great pattern
  • 4 melodic sequencer modes (mono, chord, arp, and chip(chord + arp)
  • assignable chance CV input works with any of the six parameters of one or all of the sequencers
  • clear, copy, paste, and recall functions
  • internal and external clocking options
  • support external MIDI controllers for programming sequences

The module has a depth of 25mm and requires 120mA on a +12V rail and 40mA on the 12V rail when running it in a Eurorack case. It includes reverse polarity protection.

First Impression

Finding the right sequencer for your workflow isn’t easy. Should it be something like the very simple Keystep, or one that can do everything but is often more expensive?

The program looks like a compact yet mighty hands-on creative brain that can handle all the melodic and drum sequencing duties you expect from a modern sequencer. Plus, some neat additions like full MIDI support, generative algorithms, and more.

On top of that, it gives you 12-track sequencer freedom at an affordable price compared to others with a similar feature set.

Cre8audio programm is available now for $349.99/319,99€.

Update

Update from March 2026

In early March, Richard Nicol surprisingly showcased the Cre8audio program sequencer in a SonicTalk episode. This was somewhat atypical for Cre8audio, which usually operates with strict NDAs.

He showed the module in even more detail at the London Synth Expo. So it’s no longer an open secret that it’s on the way.

Besides the information already visible on the faceplate, I find it exciting that top-level features like ratcheting can not only be set manually but have independent probability functions, making it very generative. And this per step or globally per channel.

Price and date release are still TBA, but very soon, and affordable like the other Cre8audio small boxes.

Update

Article from March 4, 2026

Superbooth 2026 is still two months away, but there’s already some news.

In today’s SonicTalk episode, Richard Nicol of Pittsburgh Modular announced the upcoming Cre8audio Programm performance sequencer that will be released in one or two weeks.

Cre8audio Programm

First Infos

Program is a new hardware desktop performance sequencer developed in collaboration between Cre8audio and Pittsburgh Modular.

Following the two synthesizers (East Beast and West Pest), the drum machine Boom Chick, and the performance mixer Assembler, a performance sequencer in the same format is coming soon.

Like the other devices, it can be used as a desktop unit or as a Eurorack module. An official list of features is not yet available, but much can be seen on the faceplate.

The Program sequencer features two 1v/oct, two CV, and 8 drum tracks. You can select tracks using the buttons on the left. The step sequencer has 32 pads, which suggests it has 32 steps. However, I suggest there will be multiple pages, and so you have at least 64 steps.

Alongside classic transport controls (play, record, stop), you can find various workflow buttons, including page, octave down, octave up, sequencer, and clear. There are also shift functions like hold, song mode, save, copy, MIDI settings, and more

The Programm sequencer also seems to have a number of creative tools built in, so that you can build very evolving patterns.

On the interface, you can find knobs for hands-on control over pattern shifting, length, condition, ratcheting, pitch with voicing and chords, and CV/CC.

If you take a look at the bottom row, you can see more features like key/scale, clock division, quantization, groove, pattern length, extend pattern, and more. It looks like there is also a generative pattern generation function.

On the connection side, it has two main sequencer outputs, each with a 1v/oct, gate, and CV outputs, which suggests that there are two tracks + 2 modulation tracks. Plus, there are eight drum trigger outputs, chance in, reset I/O, MIDI TRS I/O, and clock I/O.

Earily Impression

The Programm would be a logical new product since they already have two synths, a drum machine, and a mixer. Because what’s currently missing in this lineup, yes, a sequencer. The feature set looks promising.

I expect the Cre8audio program to be just as affordable as other products in this series. My estimate is somewhere between 200€ and 300€, or a little more.

Cre8audio Programm availability and price TBA, but Richard Nicol says it will be out in 1-2 weeks.

  1. I wonder how they have 4 CV tracks with only two sets of physical outputs? What am I missing?
