Befaco IROI decouples Oneiroi’s atmospheric processor engine and puts it into a stereo multi-FX module for Eurorack.

The Oneiroi is an experimental synth voice from the Spanish company Befaco, featuring several sound generators, including a wavetable oscillator, a looper, and a multi-FX. The last one is responsible for making everything very drony and atmospheric.

For Superbooth 2026, the developers decouple this rich multi-FX processor and put it in a standalone module. It’s called Befaco IROI.

IROI is a new compact 18HP stereo effects processor for Eurorack designed to turn any external signal into big, evolving soundscapes. The concept is reminiscent of the Endorphin.es Ghost, which bundles many effects into a single module.

This is also the case here, but in a configuration that I find more interesting. According to Befaco, IROI inherits the sophisticated processing chain of the Oneiroi experimental drone voice.

It is powered by the OWL mk3, featuring 24-bit 48 kHz stereo audio resolution (with 32-bit internal processing) and a full stereo signal path.

The supersaw oscillator, the wavetable oscillator, and the looper from the Oneiroi have been omitted. Only the multi-effects section is included. The signals enter the module via two mono inputs; yes, it is a stereo processor.

First, you have a multimode filter with low-pass, band-pass, high-pass, and comb filtering options. The filter is also part of the VCA that can be freely positioned along the effects chain, making it a very versatile tool.

Then, you have a 3-band resonator with tune and dissonance (feedback) controls. This infuses the sound with an organic, metallic quality. Next to this is a 2-tap echo with controls for time and density to add more room.

Talking of the room. IROI also features a lush ambiance generator, aka reverb, with macro control for space time (size) and decay. All effects have dedicated dry/wet mixer faders, allowing for highly independent use.

Modulation is also onboard, including a freely mappable LFO with various morphable shapes and an envelope follower mode. That’s not all. There is also a powerful randomizer with four different targets, three levels of intensity, and an undo/redo function.

Like the Oneiroi module, the Befaco IROI features hands-on manual control or CV control on most parameters. Further, you have CV control over all faders and an external sync input.

The signals go out the same way they came in, via two mono sockets.

First Impression

IROI looks like a super interesting module, as it bundles many effects into a single compact unit that can be used simultaneously. Most multi-effects processors offer many algorithms, but can only use one effect at a time.

This one offers four, all working together, plus modulation, allowing you to quickly create atmospheric sounds without needing three additional modules. I’m looking for the first demos.

Befaco IROI is available now for 275€ (assembled version) and 210€ (DIY kit).

price and availability TBA.
