Matthias Fuchs has released Vintage FX 2nd Edition, a new hardcover book about the fascinating world of vintage hardware effects.
Bjooks has published lovely hardcover books on synthesizers, Eurorack, and music technology in general over the past few years. They offer musicians exciting insights into different instruments, the technology behind them, how they are used, interviews, and more.
Matthias Fuchs offers a counterpart to these books. In his Vintage FX hardcover book, he offers readers deep insights into the world of vintage hardware effects, including the Roland Space Echo RE-201. Good news: the new Vintage FX 2nd Edition is out now with more content to explore
What Is The Vintage FX Book?
The Vintage FX is an English coffee-table-style book with 328 full-color pages, printed on high-quality photo paper.
It showcases 75 vintage studio effects devices from more than five decades of music production. According to Matthias Fuchs, it presents legendary standards, technical milestones, and exquisitely rare odd birds.
Among the 75 vintage studio effect devices, you can find creations from Eventide, Lexicon, Roland, AMS, EMT, Publison, Dynacord, and more.
It features numerous statements from artists and manufacturers, as well as a foreword by Eventide’s president, Anthony Agnello.
Vintage FX 2nd Edition
The 2nd Edition by Matthias Fuchs is a revised and expanded edition. It comes with over 30 pages of more content about vintage hardware effects. Yes, more hardware effects, more stories, and deep dives.
Good: Unlike the original edition, the new one will not have a limited print run. It’s available as a regular book.
First Impression
I’m a big fan of books like these. I have most of Bjook’s books on my shelf. They allow you to go offline and enjoy the world of hardware without a screen. You can always browse through it and discover something interesting.
Such books are also great as reference works. The Vintage FX will surely end up in my hands at some point.
Vintage FX 2nd Edition is available now for 69€ worldwide.
