DecadeBridge FOUR is a new hands-on analog four-oscillator drone Synthesizer and CV modulation utility tool for external gear.
Synthesizers don’t have to be packed with features. Even small tone generators with hands-on controls can be very charming and fun. At the end of August, I reported on the DecadeBridge TRIAD, which is just such a synth.
With the new FOUR, DecadeBridge from the UK has introduced another Synthesizer in the same format.
DecadeBridge FOUR
FOUR is a new drone Synthesizer which comes in a small, handy square shape, and it greets us with a green interface instead of red. Like Triad, it has a unique analog circuit that interestingly combines the oscillators.
At the core of DecadeBridge FOUR are four analog square oscillators that are paired together. Each pair is fed through a NOR logic gate before being routed to the output. These allow you to create stacked, pulsing drone voices or even voices.
According to the developer, the oscillators C and D are tuned slightly lower than the oscillators A and B to give a wider range between the voices.
Each square oscillator is individually adjustable. Pitch can be tweaked with the large knobs, while the smaller pots control the level/mix for the NOR gate outputs of the paired oscillators.
Additionally, four buttons are provided to switch the pitch range of all voices from audio rate to low frequency, turning them into LFOs. Knob style and knob/button colour may vary depending on stock, says DecadeBridge.
You can power the FOUR drone synth with a 9V battery or with a 9V center-positive wall adaptor with a minimum of 70mA.
First Impression
FOUR looks like another nice, fun drone synth. The sound range is limited, but when combined with effects, it can be a lot of fun. It’s probably a nice companion for casual drone sessions.
DecadeBridge FOUR is available now for an introductory price of 116,06€, down from 128,96€.
