Klevgrand Walls is a new reverb plugin with a hybrid engine that covers both classic and experimental space duties.

How many reverbs do you need in hardware or software? Actually, 1-3 I would say. Looking at musicians’ arsenals, the answer is more likely YES. You can never have enough reverbs, as each has its own charm and sound characteristics.

The same goes for Klevgrand’s new reverb called Walls.

Walls is a new algorithmic reverb/space effect for macOS and Windows. According to Klevgrand, Walls is based on a hybrid between a feedback delay network and diffusion system.

All the controls are embedded and controllable via nice, yet simple resizable interface with interactive visualiations. I would say it’s a classic Klevgrand design.

Walls features six distinct acoustics algorithms. Plate is a plate reverb that is designed for general-purpose reverb applications. Then, Hall goes in the same direction but is larger and emulates real acoustic spaces, from small to huge.

Spring gives you classic spring reverbs but also more experimental variations like metallic resonators. The last three are more unique in terms of sonic characteristics.

Cosmic is designed for deep, diffused soundscapes and textures, while Hex is a delay/reverb hybrid for granular textures and abstract sound design. Additionally, there is a binary option, which features a degraded reverb with poor realism.

Once the reverb algorithm is set, you can modify it in detail. Alongside classic size and decay controls, you can work with a pre-delay, a 2-band EQ/filter, and customizable stereo width.

The character of the reverb can be tweaked even more with the dampening filter, variable diffusion depth, and the early and late reflection mixer.

A modulation engine with up to 40 active modulation LFOs with individual frequency controllable with an X/Y pad adds movement to your reverbs.

If that’s too many parameters for you to start with, Klevgrand Walls comes with a wide range of presets that cover all directions from classic to experimental reverberations.

First Impression

I’ve already had the chance to test the plugin a bit. I appreciate that it offers a range of algorithms that cover various reverb types. I particularly like the non-bread-and-butter reverbs that can be found in the Hex, Cosmic, and Binary algorithms.

The simple interface is particularly inviting, as it doesn’t mimic any hardware-style interface or have hidden sub-menus. It’s simple and very direct in operation.  I

Klevgrand Walls is available for an introductory price of $29,99 instead of $49,99 until the end of July 2025. It runs as a VST2, VST3, AU, and AAX plugin on macOS (native Apple Silicon + Intel) and Windows. I
