Superbooth 2025: Xaoc Devices Oradea is a new quad CV-controllable analog resonator module and the Arad expander turns them into an effects processor.

Resonators are fascinating in sound design. They can be used as sound generators for acoustic, organic sounds or as processors to give other sounds a certain metallic touch. Resonators are omnipresent in iceGear Instruments’ iOS synthesizers, for example.

For Superbooth 2025, Xaoc Devices is now also bringing resonators into the modular system in a quadruple configuration and in analog in their new modules, Oradea and Arad.

Oradea is a new 20HP quadruple voltage-controlled analog resonator module for Eurorack. Xaoc Devices Oradea covers both areas of application. It can be an audio generator and an external audio processor.

The module consists of four independent resonant bands, each with precise control over the frequency, peaking, and level. You can dial in subtle but also extremely high values with a long response to pinging.

Oradea’s frequency response can be tuned over the entire range of audible frequencies with V/oct response. Additionally, it has four individual trigger inputs for exciting its filter with internally generated, uniform, and finely tuned impulses.

Xaoc Devices added individual outputs to the Oradea module, allowing you to externally process each band separately, making it very flexible. Clever, resonant frequency gain compensation prevents uncontrolled distortion. The gain at peak does not increase with resonance.

Each channel also has a VCA and a polarity switch, so you can remotely shape the overall amplitude and manually change the phase response.

The module can mimic the resonant characteristics of physical objects or space and use them as a sound generator or to process external signals.

More Fun

That’s not all. You can also expand the functionality of the Xaoc Devices Oradea with the Arad expander. It gives you direct audio inputs for the individual channels, allowing you to use each channel with a different audio source. Don’t forget, Oradea already offers individual channel outputs, but only one input.

Further, it houses buttons and gate inputs for manual and/or remote clickless muting and unmuting channels. Plus, an additional four buttons act in parallel to Oradea’s TRIG inputs, allowing for manual triggering.

First Impression

Xaoc Devices Oradea and Arad will be available in June 2025. Oradea costs 520€ and Arad 120€.
