Superbooth 24: Vermona Bass-Drum brings the popular DRM1 drum machine kick to Eurorack, and Transfourmer is a new high-quality output module

Modules, modules, modules. That will be the big topic of Superbooth 24. We will see new modules from small but established companies, including the German company Vermona, which still builds its products in Germany.

For Superbooth 24, Vermona will showcase two new modules: Bass-Drum and Transfourmer.

Vermona BASS-DRUM

The big Vermona news for Superbooth 24 is the BASS-DRUM percussive module that brings the kick instrument of the popular DRM1 MKIV drum Synthesizer to Eurorack. According to Vermona, they have substantially reworked the entire circuitry to make all important parameters modulable.

BASS-DRUM features hands-on control over the sound with six main parameters: decay, pitch with low/high settings, waveshaper, bend, time, and attack. The oscillator now tracks over several octaves, making the kick instrument much more flexible. So, it’s suitable for tuned percussion and bass lines.

Unlike the standalone drum synth, the Vermona Bass-Drum offers CV control over the decay, pitch, and wave. Plus, it has a dynamic jack that allows for dynamic triggering.

Vermona Transfourmer

The second new product will be the high-quality output module called Transformer (TRANSfourMER). It offers four balanced XLR outputs to prepare modular level signals for studio and stage use.

Interestingly, there are no level controls on the module. Vermona promises that the module always delivers perfect levels at its outputs. It uses the same proven audio transformers found in the TAI-4 with effective protection against ground loops and hum.

First Impression

Nice new products from Vermona for the Superbooth 24. I’m excited to see what the kick drum will sound like in Eurorack. If they are as punchy as the one in the DRM1, this could become a popular kick module.

Vermona BASS-DRUM availability and price is TBA. The new TRANSfourMER module will be available immediately after the Superbooth 24 at an RRP of 389€. Vermona will present its products in the Bungalowdorf at booth B047.

  1. Nice – the DRM BD especially as the one on my old DRM Mk3 was absolutely immense. Very tempted.

  2. I would prefer more cv inputs instead of the 3 cv att’s but still it is preaty amazing.
Finally I can trigger veroman drm1 kick in real “real” time!!
